Renting your apartment for film & photo shoots

IMO doing this is extremely selfish and shows complete contempt for your neighbors.

FWIW, a few months ago I allowed Scholastic Magazine to use my brownstone for a photoshoot. They brought two child actors, a chaperone, and a staff of 10-15 people. A truck delivered several huge duffle bags full of clothing, lighting supplies, etc. My neighbors were not in any way inconvenienced. They brought in huge amounts of food for breakfast and lunch, much of which remained in my fridge after they left. They were extremely careful, and did not damage anything in my home (including my large collection of easily breakable pottery).

The money was relatively modest... Only $500.

The only negative aspect of the experience is that three months have passed, and I still have not been paid.

But I have no regrets... It was fun watching the meticulously choreographed process.

Just why does someone (any one) "have" to do it? Aren't there studios, sound stages, etc.?
