Sorry for the sideways pic!

Nice!
I had been watching 1148 Union on this thread: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/45509/1148-union-at-rogers-wants-to-be-a-liquor-store/p1
It is taking them a while to get their permits.

Hopefully the signage means it will open soon

Permits granted 8/20/2015. Windows clear:

Not sure why you would want this to replace Winot for people below the Parkway. If you're loyal to Winot, you should stay loyal to Winot. The owners are great and it's a good business
-
Do you work at Winot? Relax, everyone loves Winot... but there are countless reasons why I would want a nice wine store a few blocks away from my apartment, rather than a 15-20 walk.
-
I do not work at Winot
-
@jacquelicious, exactly what I was thinking! Plus, not everyone loves Winot and no one is obligated to.
When new users all of a sudden show up on here and highly praise a business, you can't help but assume something's fishy. -

Store Closing: https://www.facebook.com/J.R.Symposium/ Elapsed time since opening, about 2.5 years.
-
The neighborhood may not have changed over as quickly has the owners hoped. ...they also may have thought the large building down the street would become a market rate building fro young single people, instead of a shelter for homeless families.
-
I went in once a while back when they were just opening. It just felt like the stock was TOO specialized and sparse, and they didn't carry some basics that would keep me coming back. I walked by yesterday, and the shelves were nearly empty. I thought it was odd, but because it was always an empty sort of store, I didn't know if it was going out of business or not. Now I know.
-
I was sad to hear this news; thought they would do better business. For people south of Eastern Parkway, hop on down to Little Mo's - Mark has a great shop that supports local distilleries, has frequent tastings, and a reasonable subscription/delivery service. https://www.littlemowine.com/

I actually use to frequent J&R a lot more before Simple Syrup opened. Sad to see it go as the owners were very nice. The location just became less convenient for me as a north-sider and the staff of Simple Syrup sucked me in.
