The 2015 Labor Day Parade and Jouvert Thread
Details about the event: http://www.chiff.com/home_life/holiday/brooklyn-labor-day.htm
The events that occur behind the Brooklyn Museum are organized by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association, and are discussed here: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/46030/west-indian-carnival-association-events-2015/p1
However, the parade and Jourvert have no single entity that oversees them. The people, food vendors, floats, bands, etc all seem to have seperate entities that they (do or do not) answer to. I find that they "converge" on the area for the events, there is no leader.
This thread will discuss the phenomena. Let's hope for a fun, safe, yummy Jouvert and parade.
Preparations can already be seen around GAP and Empire Blvd.

There's a huge group getting ready for the events at this cool space near me called the Pagwah on Pacific, near the corner of Classon. For the past month or so they've had parties and the crowd seems a bit older, relaxed, no fighting, just people chilling listening to music, enjoying food, drinks and weed.

Here's a list of the bands that claims to be current:

Things seem fairly quiet so far. I took Toddler Crownheightster to the Kiddie Carnival and had a blast.
-
The kids did appear to have a great time.
-
It would appear the NYPD was busy last night if the sirens and copters were any indication. Happy Labour Day weekend!
-
One can see how the NYPD is preparing for tomorrow on the Prospect Park loop.
There, one can see the reporting/muster area and all of the vehicles that will be assigned.
....easily 30 empty vans, waiting to be staffed.
In just a few years, the NYPD helicopters will be complimented by NYPD drones.
One can listen to how busy NYPD Special Operations is on this feed: http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/1189/web

It's actually really quiet tonight compared to previous years. For a few years we could always hear the bands playing at the Museum.

A Facebook friend of mine, Daniel Ivy, took pictures of all of the politicians and political causes that showed up at the parade. I am pretty sure he has the settings set to "public", but let me know if you can't see them:
