LOOK by Plant Love House: Thai restaurant coming to 622 Washington

..in the spot that was most recently King's Clam Bar (and before that Atlantic Co., and before that Ortine). It will be the Brooklyn location of an Elmhurst family-run joint that seems to have gotten some good buzz:

Looked like people were in there working on the interior when we walked by earlier this evening.

    Tried it last night. Legit. Still a limited menu. Definitely recommend.

    Ms Whynot and I ate there and found it to be very spicy, but yummy.

    We had asked for medium spice, but needed to drink lots of water with our meals.

    We will choose mild next time

    I went to the Elmhurst location earlier this year, and it's very good. Yes, very spicy. They are known for their pork blood noodle soup, which I hope they have here.

    They do indeed! Food is so good. Went last week.

    I've been thrice, including opening night (I think I was customer # 2!)

    I agree with the growing consensus that the food is very good but very spicy. It was a bit of a challenge to find things for our kids to eat when I took the family last night, even after asking for mild on all items (the boys did get full on the pork dumplings and chiang mai khao soy (curry noodles, which are very tasty!)). They like fried rice so we got the khao pad tom yum, but it was a bit too tom yum-my for their taste (me and the wife loved it though, so that worked out well for us)

    I have yet to try the acclaimed pork blood noodle soup (guay tiao num tuk--the dish that is singled out for praise in that NYT review of the Elmhurst location I posted above)

    Here's a snapshot of the full menu. They didn't have takeout menus printed up for the opening night and weekend, and didn't see any lying around last night either--but seemed like they were doing some delivery & takeout business right after opening.

    This place is different enough from the nearby Thai Udom place that it seems to not be in competition.

    hey steadyblogging, out of purely selfish motives, i really hope they don't lower the spice level. for those who want a more 'child-friendly' experience, they can go to countless other thai places in brooklyn.

    i can handle spice levels of 10, and when i went in the first week of them opening, i got the only noodle soup with 2 chilis on it, the one w/ the shrimp/prawn and it literally made tears come out of my eyes...and it was amazing..

    I'd have to agree, finding good, spicy, and somewhat authentic thai food is difficult. However bland thai is pretty easy to get..

    It would appear part of its authentic appeal is no vegan options. Hope that changes, especially with a name like "Plant Love House.

    My husband, who is terribly picky about Thai food, absolutely LOVED LookBrooklyn.
