I'll believe it if it happens. I'm seeing predictions from under an inch up to four feet. So it's fair to say they just don't know.
-
The weather.com forecast is estimating 3-5 inches.
-
I sort of want a lot of snow.
-
I'd like to see a decent amount of snow too, but I'm with newguy88 -- they often get it wrong, usually overestimating the severity.- just seeing a map on MSNBC as I type that shows just 7" for the city, and 0" north of the city. The weather guy said it looks more like a "miss" than a "hit" in NYC.

Yea, I doubt we will get 3 day weekend out of the deal.
-
Snowshoes & sleds are ready. Fingers are crossed.

Does anyone know how long after a snow residents have to shovel their walk?
-
"While snow is falling, complaints are not accepted for snowy or icy sidewalks. After the snow stops falling, if you are a property owner, you must clear snow and ice on your sidewalk to create a path for pedestrians. You must also remove snow and ice from sidewalks next to bus stops and hydrants. If snowfall ends:Between 7 AM and 5 PM, sidewalks must be cleared within 4 hours.Between 5 PM and 9 PM, sidewalks must be cleared within 14 hours.Between 9 PM and 7 AM, sidewalks must be cleared by 11 AM.You may receive a summons for failing to clear the sidewalks within these timeframes."

Thanks very much! @newguy88

According to the updated weather channel app now, it'll be more than a few inches. 3-5 inches tonight and 8-12 tomorrow. Should start snowing in the next hour or so and will snow continuously for at least 24 hours. Chance of snow is 80-100% for most of the hours. 30-40 mph winds. Tomorrow will likely be unpleasant blizzard day. Sunday will be snow fun day.

Don't believe the hype. I recall a photo of 7th ave in PS showing 8 foot high snow banks from the 50s. The world is not ending. Yet.
-
The world ending is one thing, cold winds and snow smacking you in the face is another. It won't be doomsday, but probably not ideal for frolicking around.

Better be safe than sorry. Or be this woman. (Watch to the end)

This guy seems on mark:

A friend took a photo of our local fire company (aptly named "Eye of the Storm") freeing an ambulance on St Marks near Franklin. -
Travel ban came into effect at 2:30 PM today. http://gothamist.com/2016/01/23/gov_cuomo_declares_travel_ban_in_ny.php
