Where to get bialys in CH or PH — Brooklynian

Where to get bialys in CH or PH

Do any of the local CH or PH bagel outlets sell bialys? (Or perhaps "bialies"?)

I doubt any of the "new" bagel outlets have them.   I'd look at the older bagel places, along Kingston Avenue.

My go-to-guy on Kingston, confirms bialys can be had at The Market Place on Kingston and ENY Ave.

Bunch o Bagels on Troy is likely to have them as well.

  • Haven't had a bialy in ages - years ago we had several shops on Linden Blvd in East New York that sold the tastiest onion bialys anywhere.  How I miss those goodies!
  • Good bialys at Lula Bagel on Nostrand
  • I haven't looked for bialys at the Marketplace, but I have not seen any at the stores on Kingston Ave in many years. I don't believe Bunch O' Bagels has them either.

I do like bialys a lot, so when someone with a car is staying at my place, or when I take my bike (in warmer weather), I go to Bell Bialy Bakery at 10013 Foster Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11236. It's in an industrial area between Brownsville and Canarsie. I find that it's best to get there early (7-8 AM) when the bialys first come out of the oven and the retail store is open. Their main business is selling wholesale to stores, but they do sell retail also, only in increments of a dozen. Their prices are very cheap and the bialys are very good. They freeze well also. They do carry bagels, but while acceptable, they are not as good as the bialys, IMO.
  • oh, by the way, I have never seen anyone ever use the spelling "bialies"
  • If you ever get down to the Lower East Side, the ultimate source of bialys is Kossars (http://kossars.com).
  • Science is working on creating gluten free hybrid wheat which, hopefully, will soon be readily available. Thereafter, kossars and others will create GF bialys that people like me can enjoy.   :)
  • Bergen Bagel down near the Barclays Center has bialys.  Technically Prospect Heights...
  • Both Key Food and Bagel Delight, each on 7th Avenue in Park Slope, have bialys.
