    I'm not to far from there. Walked down that block a few times. There isn't a coffee shop or  a Thai place for many blocks (my measurement of gentrificaton). should be interesting.

    I expect these folks to take the A/C at Utica. ...which, I agree, does not have a lot of amenities they may want.

    Stuyvesant Heights, up on the north side of Atlantic, is already pretty nice. I have a Dutch coworker who lives there.

    I drove out to this neighboorhood area on Saturday during my morning get-the-toddler-to-nap drive. Even driving, it is REALLY FAR from the gentrified areas of CH and Bed-Stuy and Stuy Heights.

    The area was so recently poor that it lacks not just coffee shops, Thai, bars and the like ....but also grocery stores that carries fresh vegetables and name brands.

    It's also near an epicenter of violence where 3 housing projects (or gangs if you look at the NYPD gang map) meet. 

    which prijects? Kingsborough, Brevort and the one right outside the Utica  A stop. The bloodshed tends to be north of atlantic by a block along herkimer from the high school east. Will it spill to pacific once the NYPD puts in cameras up along herkimer?

    Also, how many bodies and shootings and stabbings do they need before the cameras go up?
