Used to be an accounting office at some point.

    "About 827 Nostrand Ave

Located just one block from Eastern Parkway, 827 Nostrand Avenue is ideal for tenants looking to rent office space or a retail unit in New York’s lively Crown Heights’ neighborhood.

Commuters working at 827 Nostrand Avenue are just steps from the nearest subway station (2, 3 and 5 trains), and local amenities in close proximity include Tony’s Pizza restaurant, Lula’s Bagel and Super Wings, thriving new businesses that have moved into this up-and-coming part of New York.

827 Nostrand Avenue comprises of 7,165 square feet of rentable space. New York’s professionals have an excellent signage potential at this address. The building is currently being renovated, but will retain some of its original early 20th century features, such as the ornate plaster ceilings for example.

A former accounting office, the property boasts concrete floors, a bathroom at the rear and 15’ of frontage. The 70 ft. deep property is ideal for cafe or coffee house, real estate office or a bike shop. With Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Prospect Heights turning into high rent locations, this is becoming a prosperous neighborhood.

Constructed in 1912, the gray brick 4-story building at 827 Nostrand Avenue provides New York’s entrepreneurs with a fantastic opportunity."

    Update:
It will be a sandwich shop, called Big Rolland. It will specialize in chicken and is scheduled to open soon. Upon closer examination, they appear to specialize in rolls, as opposed to sandwiches.

Hence the name "Rolland", and the image below.

    sorry, @dmiami2 -
It is not becoming a little French bistro.
  • Don't be. I have no preference.

It would have been odd to say "big enough for a small Chicken Cafe". :)

    true dat.

I am somewhat proud that I was able to solve the mystery of what it would be in approximately 24 hours.
  • Indeed. Nice work Sir.
  • Mine is a strange hobby, but one I seem to be good at.
  • Owner has informed me that the Grand Opening is tomorrow, Friday November 12th, at 11 AM
  • I'm pretty happy with this. We need more sandwich shops! :)

Today, I finally gave this place a try.

A yummy lunch for $9.25. The operator clearly made some capital investments in the site. He also signed up with Seamless, making me believe this is not his only venture.

  • I sampled the Big Rolland Sandwich with fried chicken tenders. It was delicious.
  • Nostrand between EP and Carroll is changing very rapidly.     This place is one of a few casual dining places that have opened, and more will come.

The place didn't seem very busy, and I suspect the owner is trying to cut his losses.

I sound like an alcoholic but it is really tough for a restaurant business to make ends meet without at least beer...

  • Oh no. I actually really loved Big Rolland.
  • The admins may have jumped the gun when they declared it closed.    All I know is that it is listed for sale.

...you may still have time to get lunch there again.

  • Sorry... my error... now corrected.

    @crownheightster -

You get to decide whether to give the food service worker a heads up on whether it is for sale.

...sometimes I have been the first to inform such folks of potential changes.

  • Apparently this place is becoming "Bed Stuy Fish Fry". There are 3 other locations according to the sign on the roll down gate.

Kind of a downgrade if you ask me.

I suspect the owner of Big Rolland lost a lot of $ on this adventure.

  • BTW, the location of Bed Stuy Fish fry on Fulton is now for sale.

...so they are not really adding a location.
