i miss middleastern food
after moving from clinton hill, and ordering either black iris, or zaytoons 2-3 times a week, i have yet to find a middleastern place that will deliver over to me!
does that place Olive Vine (or whatever its called on 7th) deliver past vandy??? Why doesnt anyone want to ride the extra block to underhill:( i miss hummus. and schwarma. and pitzas.
what are my other options... anyone know of any...?

You will find that outside of the neighborhood, food establishments do not like to deliver to the neighborhood because the delivery guys get mugged, from time to time.

I guess the local delivery guys are safe because their faces are recognized and that links them to a local establishment. The mugger would be found out in no time -
I've gotten grub delivered from Olive Vine and I live past Vanderbilt...

I've never ordered from Olive Vine, but I've found their menus stuffed under my front door (on Underhill), so I'm guessing they'd deliver to your place, PPG. There are bunch of other places in the north Slope that I HAVE ordered from, but none of them are Middle Eastern.
Also, I like this tiny little Middle Eastern place called Maha's that's actually in PH, at Sixth Ave/Bergen, but I'm not sure whether they deliver at all. (They mightâ€â€i just haven't checked.) If you ever come home on the 2/3, though, just hop off at the Bergen stop, and it's right across the street.
Breuckelen, dude, are you SURE you live in PH? The Wild West-ian neighborhood you so frequently describe here bears very little resemblance to my home. -
olive vine will bitch about delivering past washington (they claim one of their falafel-couriers got robbed over here, but they've been using that same story for at least a couple years), but they'll do it. unfortunately, their food isn't nearly as good as zaytoon's. to be honest, when i'm in the mood for kafka kabobs, fatoosh salad and merguez, i just make the hike to either carroll gardens or fort greene.

I live in a nice fluffy place called make-believe. Where is Barney when I need him to defend me?

Snitch is right, Olive Vine is not that good. And Maha's is OK (and cheap), but none of it compares to Atlantic Avenue.

That's where they found the blind sheik, so it must be good? Humus isn't humus until you have had the real thing. It is nothing compared to the middle east. That sh*t was amazing! -
true
Breucklelen makes it sound like the nomad gang from the road warrior camps out under the grand army plaza arch.
i think you play too much GTA bro.

Maha's falafel is excellent and cheap, but everything is else is a bit pricey. I'll get some Mujhadara with stewed tomatoes and eggplant and end up spending like ten dollars. But def the best bet in the neighborhood for Lebanese/Palestinian.

I agree with Alecorock, I like Maha's falafel. It tastes like chicken! And she's a nice lady. -
Mr Falafel delivers to me and I live on Park Pl between Vanderbilt and Underhill.

actually, i really like olive vine. pretty cheap, lots of food, really nice on the phone and super-quick delivery. certainly better than laila. (IMHO)
but, i will agree, that that place on smith (don't remember the name, the most well-known place) is some of the best i've ever had.
Howdy, Stranger!
