1018 Bergen (at Rogers), "Taste of India"

I jogged past yesterday and the red awning had been replaced by a vintage looking neon Bar and Cocktails sign.I didn't stop to check it out but the insides didn't look like they have been ripped up just yet and, oddly enough, the "Specials" board was still posted outside the front door, as if Taste was still serving.
-
Sometimes places put up an awning far in advance of opening, as a form of advertising. However, this one has me scratching my head because I have received no word of them applying for an alcohol permit.
-
This twitter user says the shop is under new ownership, and will be reportedly be known as P & G Cafe.
-
Today it is a new bar. SURPRISE
-
Are they actually serving alcohol?
-
It isn't a new bar. It is part of a set for a new Julianne Moore movie called Wonderstruck, according to some workers who were putting it up. All of the buildings on the corner have new facades.
-
Ah, that makes sense. There is a pop-up fake bookstore in the area as well.
...most of the faux popups have been in vacant storefronts.
I wonder if it will go back to being Indian food or will become P&G Café after the movie people leave.
-
Pics plz, for those of us stuck in another borough.

Here's the fake bookstore at Rogers and Bergen.

I noiced a bunch of very vintage looking shops like this last night in the area! I thought some hipsters were really taking it too far.

"Wonderstruck follows the intertwined narratives of two deaf children, Ben and Rose. Ben lives with his family in Minnesota in 1977, and runs off to New York following his mother’s death when a mysterious note shows up. Rose, who is locked in a house in 1927 New Jersey, also escapes to New York to see her idol, film actress Lillian Mayhew. The film is being produced by Christine Vachon, Pam Koffler and John Sloss."
So, are we seeing NYC facades that are supposed to look like 1927 or 1977?
-
They seem to change the awnings to match the scene.
Photo not by me.

BTW, the awning at Taste of India has returned:

More info on the original P&G, FYI: http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/02/13/west-side-loses-a-neon-landmark/?_r=0. It closed a few years ago after 66 years.
