Something is happening in 634 Park Place (near Franklin)
This was briefly the site of Park Place Cafe. It closed a while ago, after the DOH realized that it never went thru the ordeal of getting its kitchen inspected, or registering with them.
It seems to have sat vacant since approximately Jan 2014. http://www.yelp.com/biz/park-place-coffee-new-york?sort_by=date_desc
However, today it seems the place is finally being cleaned out. They are making way for a new tenant, or perhaps merely listing it.
It is next to Silver Rice and Bahnmingos. 634 Park Place, Crown Heights

Wow, somehow I missed the reason for this closing. I figured it was just the odd selection, inconsistent hours and the Support the Troops collection that they had going (which on closer inspection was for the Israeli Army). Always seemed a bit out of place and poorly managed.
-
It had all of those qualities and (as one might expect) was closed on Friday evenings and until after sundown on Saturday.
....but DOH gets the credit for actually closing them down by virtue of attaching a "Closed by Order of DOH" sign to the door. -
Today, the storefront was painted yellow.
-
Someone is still doing occasional work in there, but very slowly.

-
A request for a kitchen inspection has now been filed by Café Caribeana
It sounds as it we are getting a coffee shop with a Carib theme.
-
Or the Burqha place is coming back? That was a very odd secret place.
-
It was.
...but I doubt it could pay present day rents.
BTW, the coffee place is rumored to open with the "next few weeks"
-
The building it will be located in is not quite visible in this historic photo. It would be on the left, just out of the frame.

I'm hearing that this place is now open.
-
As a coffee shop?
-
Its open as a coffee place. The sign on the sidewalk said something like Japanese coffee shop with Caribbean inspiration, or something odd. They were open yesterday, but I didn't have a chance to walk in.
-
this place seems to have closed.
-
Open today. Just closed for the Fourth.
-
Does it keep limited hours? I regularly see it closed after 5 PM
-
Don't know about its hours. Most coffee shops do close by the eve, or close to it.
-
At last, the spot is done. Closed at the end of January.
-
I never saw this place have more than a few people in it. I wonder what will be next.
-
They've been doing some work on this place, hoping it's not another coffee shop. Does anyone know what's coming in?
