Now identified as a female, age 35.

Surprisingly little concern about this. I had friends in yesterday and we took the kids by the park and you wouldn't even know anything had transpired. I guess one more dead crackhead (K2 user? heroin addict?) is not a big deal anymore.

Deaths from opiate overdoses are not unusual. I think what made his one newsworthy was that it occurred in a park, and was discovered by a dog walker.
...while most seem to occur inside apartments, and are discovered by friends, the landlord, EMTs, etc.
Note: The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, I'm just jabbering about the growing phenomena of opiate overdoses.

Actually, my first thought was heat stroke. But the fact that the Brower Park woman had her face clovered with a cloth seems suspicious of something else.

It is not uncommon for people to use opiates with others.
In case of overdose, many users have Narcan on hand to help their friends but when it does not work (or they don't have it on hand...) many flee because they themselves are high and/or have outstanding warrants.
If my theory has validity, they didn't even have the sense to anonymously call 911 from one of the rapidly-disappearing-payphones.
(users are afraid to use their traceable cellphones).

Heroin it is:
BROOKLYN — A woman's body was moved on Saturday to a Crown Heights park after she died of a heroin overdose, police said.
The still-unidentified 35-year-old woman, whose boyfriend was also found dead in a Lower East Side housing project with a heroin needle in his arm, was discovered about 2:30 p.m. lying in Brower Park with a rag over her face and a sheet over her body by a dogwalker, NYPD officials said.
"She was found in the park, covered up, as if she was placed there," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce during a Monday press conference. "We're trying to figure out exactly what happened."
She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
NYPD officials did not immediately provide additional details about the death of her boyfriend.

I figured it was either heat stroke or an overdose.
-
The heat may have played a role...If we assume she was getting high with friends and her (now deceased) boyfriend, I wonder if the public will ever know what the logic was behind moving her from the LES.I speculate she was deceased when they moved her, rather than merely overdosing.Maybe they wanted her body to be in a peaceful place, and Brower was familiar to her or one of them?

Lots of police vehicles and detective looking guys in suits.
