233 Buffalo is no longer "too far East"
"Back In January, plans were filed for a new residential building to be built at 233 Buffalo Avenue between Sterling and Park Place in Brooklyn. Now, Samuel Wieder Associates has shared a rendering of the proposed residence. Located in Crown Heights near the 3/4/5 trains, this 4-story rental building will hold 9 apartments including two duplex penthouses. The average apartment size will measure about 675 square feet and DOB permits indicate that six of the units will have private balconies, and that there will be a 225-square foot recreation space within the building. JIH Builders Group is the developer of the 8,906-square foot project, and Diego Aguilera is listed as the architect of record. The new building replaces a 2-story townhouse that was demolished for the project."

It's nice to see this happening. I grew up just a few minutes from here on foot, just off the corner of EP and Ralph.

There a nice building on the corner of Park and Rochester that was completed gutted and redone about 2 years ago. The store is about 800 sq. ft and also redone and has been vacant the whole time I would figure because the rent being asked is too high and the neighborhood won't be able to support it. Maybe this will help bring in some needed residents with a little more money.

It is only a matter of time before someone opens a craft beer bar on Utica. http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/45798/lets-start-the-clock-when-will-a-bar-open-on-utica-that-caters-to-the-7-craft-beer-crowd

The place that closed on the corner of Utica and St. Johns is now reopened under O's Bar and Grille or something like that. Maybe that's the kind of place you're describing.
