rate neighborhoods for girl/boy-watching.
scale of 1-10.
w'burg=9
for all of its faults, williamsburg does numbers.
ft greene=8
plenty of good-looking, stylish people. just not enough of a strip to bring it all together.
clinton hill=6
fort greene jr with a few too many ohioans.
carroll gardens=5
although a lame and soulless neighborhood, one or two of those yuppies and eurotrash-types are hot.
prospect heights=5
there are some attractive people, but you only see them walking to and from the train.
park slope=2.5
it could be great for lesbians, but otherwise, the ratio of good-looking people to non-good-looking people might be the worst of any moneyed neighborhood in the city (including murray hill).

At Last... someone bold to unleash the thoughts I keep hidden to myself upon the world. Brilliant. Now rate yourself.
-
Bushwick - 7 (especially along the stretch of Wyckoff Avenue between Dekalb Ave. and Halsey Street)
Crown Heights - 8 (Utica Avenue, between Eastern Parkway and Empire Boulevard, is always a sure bet)
Flatbush - 10 (always chock full of gorgeous women. Flatbush Avenue itself is great, as is the long walk on Church Avenue between Flatbush and Utica Avenues).
Ditmas Park/Victorian Flatbush - 6 (inconsistent, but the summertime along Cortelyou Road can be rewarding)
Of course, this is all subjective, but that's my two cents. Regarding other boroughs, Fordham Road in the Bronx is great and Jamaica and Astoria (especially Steinway) win the titles for Queens. -

It depends on what you're looking for. Blanket statement ahead: Williamsburg did nothing for me. Eye candy wise they were interesting but not always in a good way. The girls...well, all I could do was think about how bad their feet must smell from wearing cowboy boots in the summer and wondered why they looked like they were wearing Geranimals. Thank you, but I'll take the "LA face with Oakland booty" over that any day.The guys were too skinny--I used to like that, but now I want a man who has enough upper body strength to move furniture (or protect my young, should it come to that). Two percent body fat with no muscle mass is not hot. I guess they're attractive in that lastnightsparty.com "I'll show my tiny malnourished body for a PBR" kinda way.

But, if that's your steez, many of those people you're ogling in the burg will be moving the PS/PH in a few years when they get a little older and settle down. Hey, it happened to me.
Not on the list, but some of the hottest women I've seen in my life: the Russian girls Kings Hwy/Brighton Beach and some of the West Indian women I went to school with at Brooklyn College. Tall, amazing bodies, dressed to the nines. The end of the 2/5 line was crazy badonk--everyone had a case of neck swivel, myself included. No wonder I had to move--I couldn't keep up with that. -
to me, williamsburg's main problem is not that it's overly trendiod or cobrasnaked-out, but that the population is so homogeneous. that said, the mean level of attractiveness within that uniform composition is solid. the main reason i ranked it so high is that none of the other areas i listed have as many bars and restaurants that generate a constant stream of prospective oglees. if clinton hill had a main drag to rival bedford, i don't think i'd ever be anywhere else.
my boy swears that women from flatbush have asses that can be picked out of an ass-lineup and identified as being from flatbush. young krohn, is this true? -

It's all true. -
The boys watch the girls, while the girls watch the boys
Who watch the girls go by
Eye to eye
They solemnly convene, to make the scene
Which is the name of the game, watch a guy, watch a dame
On any street in town
Up and down
And over and across, romance is boss
Guys talk
"Girl talk"
It happens everywhere
Eyes watch
Girls walk
With tender lovin' care
It's keepin' track of the fact, watching them watching back
That makes the world go 'round
What's that sound?
Each time you hear a loud, collective sigh
They're making music to watch girls by -

i see some cute looking dudes, but not enough here. i also thought that my commute on the Q everyday would provide me with eyecandy...but nope. i think that they are all on the other side of the park and ride the F.
w'burg=5
if i like dirty looking boys with shiny wallets... then yea. but not my type
ft greene/clinton hill=9
hot. hawt. haute. i miss the boys over there. a. lot.

i dunno...whenever i go to that bar brooklyn social, i kind of feel like im surrounded by a bunch of yuppies that got REALLY REALLY REALLY good makeovers. but somethins up with them. something is off.
park slope=2
......er nope. -
I mostly agree with the young snitch especially about PS being at the very bottom of eye candy) but that being said, this whole list must seriously be judged on a heavy curve - b/c compared to virtually anywhere in Manhattan, A place like Williamsburg drops from a 9 to 3 real quick!
-
I happen to think that I drag up the Park Slope average at least 1.6 points...
-
I agree about Park Slope. There are very few good-looking people over here. Though, I do think people over here are making more of an effort at basic hygiene and fashion than they used to. Ten years ago there were so many moms in the playground in mom jeans and awful wash-and-wear hair. It seems like the young moms these days are cuter and trying harder to look halfway okay. The men over here have never been anything to look at. Lately I've been seeing more hipsterish boys in the Williamsburg mode -- but I have to agree, zero bodyfat with no muscle tone is not a good look for anyone.

Prospect Heights takes an early lead in the poll!
OK, only 2 votes, but... -

(In my mother's voice): PS, you could look so much prettier if you just tried! Comb your hair! A little lipstick! Look in the mirror before you leave the house! I bet you'd clean up real nice.
I too, have been seeing more of these hipterish boys lingering around the South Slope and am always taken back a bit and wonder if they're lost. Lock up your track bike and stay a bit, handsome.
PS seems to rate much higher if you're a lesbian. My roommate is having a great time. Me, not so much. -
I stopped at the Met on Vanderbilt around 8-ish on the way home from work and it was overrun with very cute guys.... I need to start shopping there more often. 8)

Where these guys buying healthy foods? They might be gay. There is a lot you can guess from people's groceries. -
Young Snitch: Yes, it's true about the women in Flatbush. Everytime I'm there I cannot believe that the women are real. Erikka's comment about her fellow students at Brooklyn College is spot-on.
Armchair: you're right, my friend, we all have our individual tastes. What are your favorite spots? -
OK - so Park Slope is not stuffed full with hot 23 year old chicks, but it does have the lock on Brooklyn MILF.
-
I'm not so sure, Jamzer. I've seen some forty-something women in Flatbush who look better than most women in their early 20s. But again, it all comes down to personal taste.

There are many hot dads in the park too -

No way - PS moms seem to go out of their way to look (and be???) as un-f'able as possible. The best Brooklyn MILFs are in Cobble Hill (check out Congress St park on a nice day!) -

i agree man those milfs are hot!!!! -

What? Red Hook doesn't get any love??? -

The typical PS mom look is still pretty dowdy, but I think things are improving. Ten years ago when my kids were little, the look in the playgrounds was all about the high-waisted Lands End jeans and I'm-too-harried-from-constant-breastfeeding-to-shower. In that crowd, you could totally elevate yourself to hotness with clean hair, Gap jeans, and a little lipgloss. Now I see lots of young PS moms wearing cute outfits and even -- sometimes -- cute shoes.

young snitch --
"Clinton Hill is Fort Greene Jr. with too many Ohioans" -- amazing. I a) live in Clinton Hill and b) am from Ohio. I'd love to know how many other Ohioans you know in CH. -
does sexual preference factor into the equation??..me thinks CH/FG has a large gay community..so as attractive as the crowd is..its really a case of window shopping (if ur straight that is)
-
hey now, ohio has a fine breed of sexy.
-
....come to think of it, i do see some nice looking men at Met, especially if i hit it up after geting off of the train from work. But then they all seem to vanish on my walk home.

Subject: East to West
Ah, Snitch, your ascerbic yet astute posts always enchant me, so I'm happy to keep this thread alive...
Well, I'm new to CH, but I take the B65 every day, which is an interesting social experiment. I get on @ Kingston, and it's packed with PYTs (emphasis on young). And gauging how loudly the ruff ryders talk about all that tail that follows them, I'm presuming they do have some whip appeal. I notice that the people get far less attractive and interesting the further west on the route--from CH, PH, PS, then BoCoCa. Flatbush Ave. seems to be the Great Divide, by where most of the pulchritude has disembarked. (BTW, I would like to see these Flatbush booties you speak of, just for my own, ahem, edification.)
And YS, you are right about CG: I lived there for two years, not a headturner among 'em. It's Park Slope West. I love the Italian roots, but it's become multiculti, with a completely bland vanilla aftertaste. Meanwhile, on my first trip to Super Foodtown on Fulton, there were a few brothas I'da liked to share my grocery list with.
FWIW, I just don't get the whole hipster thing. To echo Erikka's observations, I deconstructed one on the bus a few weeks ago (He boarded somewhere around Washington), and there's such an air of affectation--like, it takes so much effort to look like you rolled out of bed. Do you buy your Wallabees secondhand? How long to grow that Jesus beard? The aviator sunglasses, the emaciated pelvic bones jutting out of your belted, distressed, oversized Diesels--and is that a bottle of Fiji water you just pulled out of your man purse? Ay, por favor.
Give me the realness. -

You gotta go out further---like Church or Newkirk. -
red hook is a tough one. since i don't really count columbia street as the hook proper, most of my experience in the van brunt area was before the alleged blossoming that magazine covers have lauded. i suppose sonny's and lilly's had a few fresh faces, but most of what i remember was stevedores, crackheads, wild dogs, hippie artists and wizened old dudes fishing on the end of the pier.
Howdy, Stranger!
