Delurking: I'm new to the neighborhood and would *love* to know three great places. Please do tell?
if you know already.

1. The soup place near 11th Street, on the west side?
if you know already. -

Is that the place that looks to be half soup-man, half florist?

I lurrrve the soup/tamale place. yum. but what other two places are you talking about? I walk by Cantina every day, but it looks so like a Chili's I've never been tempted - is it any good?
what about tacos from the Mexican grocery on 4th/14th? if that's what you're talking about you are flying impressively under the radar (tho I do seem to remember a Chowhound post about that place a while back).
on a side note, I'm kinda sad that pizza place on the east side of 4th (at, like 12th st?) didn't stick it out longer. would've loved to be able to get a slice on my way home.... -

You're in the know, I see
. I live on the block with the mexican bodega, so I really appreciate their tacos! I'm sure I will more when a snow storm hits. But actually, I don't know how long it would have taken to figure out they had yummy tacos if my pot-smoking friends a few blocks down hadn't told me.
I was wondering about that pizza place...It was already closed either before I moved here or right after. I'm not a huge fan of Joe's (I'll eat it, however), so I wouldn't mind a better pizza place on 4th or 5th.
The third place I'm referring to--just to go ahead and give it all away--is actually Cantina on the corner of 12th. Their burger is reallly good, and though I haven't tried it yet, the burritos are supposed to be good too. Also, their mango margarita is yummy. And its not like Chili's at all
