The former Gulf Station/Dunkin Donuts at EP and Bedford (1550 Bedford)

They are unlucky to be on the CB9 side of Eastern Parkway.
-
No work evident yet.

If the city/ state really wanted to do something nice for this neighborhood, aside from dumping massive homeless shelters in our midst, they would purchase this lot and turn it into a playground for kids. Families around here have to walk a mile to Mount Prospect Park for the closest playground.
-
-
There is a playground by Ebbets Field that was recently renovated.
The city does not aquire land for parks very often.
...maybe if the owner fell behind in taxes, we would have a distant shot.
But even then, there are need$ more pressing than parks. -
If parts of the loud and vocal community keep advocating for killing deals that improve the community, I wouldn't be surprised if the next thing the city did for the neighborhood was put a jail in it.I mean what do people really think is gonna happen now that Rikers is closing?Homeless shelters and jails for Crown Heights and down with the gentrification, right?

Update: A historically reliable source informs me that this lot is owned by a small hotel chain, which has about 5 locations in New York City. Another hotel will be built here. It will be constructed by the same developer that created the building at Franklin and Dean: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/45145/the-part-of-the-old-brewery-that-is-becoming-a-huge-complex-franklin-dean#Item_40 Demolition of the remains of the gas station may happen as early as Fall 2017. ...they are not waiting for the city to get its act together re: the armory.
-
Makes sense that it's the same developer. This one (@ EP & bedford) has an Israeli flag perched on its roof.
-
Yes, the one on the NE corner flies the Israeli flag: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/44338/here-comes-1519-bedford-between-eastern-parkway-and-lincoln-formerly-a-gas-station-and-a-car-wash#latest

@Marco555 confused about your logic. Why does it make sense that Franklin and Dean developer who built the good-looking new building, not the one under construction with the Isreali flag, would be doing hotel? Personally I think that's good news. The building on Franklin and Dean tho crazy expensive to live in sure does look good. Dying to know which chain @whynot_31 ...
-
We should note that although the demolition was approved in May of 2016, the permit was just issued: 6/21/2017. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/JobsQueryByNumberServlet?requestid=1&passjobnumber=321379496&passdocnumber=01 So, we have no change from what was announced in YIMBY back in July 2016, and I linked above: ODA is developer. It will be a hotel. Owner is listed as YOEL SCHWIMMER. ...we just now know it will soon move forward.
-
@yesbrooklyn Here's a rendering for a hotel project ODA is working on in East Williamsburg. ...perhaps the same "chain" http://newyorkyimby.com/2016/01/reveal-for-seven-story-hotel-and-retail-project-at-71-white-street-east-williamsburg.html
-
Woops. I got confused with the buildings. One on NE corner of bedford and EP has the Israeli flag. Not the one thats part of this discussion. So no logic here! Thanks for pointing out my mistake.yesbrooklyn said:@Marco555 confused about your logic. All Year Management we think? They just did the William Vale in bburg. That would be pretty rad.
-
Update (from a year ago...maybe already posted): https://therealdeal.com/2016/07/01/yoel-goldman-plans-100-key-crown-heights-hotel/ Does look like All Year Management -- as far as I can tell this would be #4. William Vale, Condor (also in Williamsburg), and the to be completed one in East Williamsburg that whynot posted.
-
Hopefully it won't become a homeless hotel!
-
The firm seems to do development, as well as property management. This lists the properties the firm has developed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoel_Goldman This lists the apartment buildings his firm manages (or ark east the subset with vacancies): https://www.allyearmgt.com/Home/CMS?id=48 In terms of the hotels, the firm seems to develop them and then manage them. Capital seems to be raised mostly via the Israeli finance markets.

Passed by this morning and looks like work is beginning. Shiny new green fence is up and permits are posted.
-
Has demolition of the gas station begun? Has heavy equipment arrived?
-
Not seeing any work or equipment yet. Just the fence at the moment.
-
No demolition as of yet.
-
Demolition has begun.
-
Only the slab remains
-
When can we expect renderings?
-
here are some. It appears it will have a lot of arches, and the center will be hollow. Lots of set backs to maximize light. Use your computers "open with preview feature" to get a full screen shot. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BScanJobDocumentServlet?requestid=5&passjobnumber=321413412&passdocnumber=03&allbin=3032880&scancode=ESHS4176640
-
Featuring a rooftop ski slope?
-
Only in winter
-
It looks like construction is about to happen... I saw an additional fence going up around the curb, not sure how that is going to work for foot traffic. Anyway, assuming they are really starting, i'll go ahead and predict completion in Jan 2019 (just missing a opening for the holidays).
-
Looks very Europe’s with the arches and a big open air plaza/court yard in the middle. I like the idea of a roof top bar, even though it’s not particularly tall building
