I am a long-term resident. I was meh about the explanation about the bullet hole in the wall, but the 40 oz bottle of rose being served in a paper bag (and her blase explanation about it) rubbed me the wrong way. She opened up something on Nostrand because the three block walk to Franklin was too far, and she wanted something closer. If someone were to come in from Schenectady, that's further from Nostrand than Franklin is from Nostrand! That part of her comment didn't make sense.

So...Who's out on Schenectady anyway?

The backlash from the Gothamist and EaterNY articles seems to have snowballed. These signs were posted around the neighborhood today.

I vaguely remember this. That was at the very least tacky and tone-deaf.

It would have been wise to have someone tweak Summerhill's press release to be less tone-deaf as well.

It seems to me that this would be a perfect time for a nonprofit that serves the community to hit this business up for a donation or to do a couple of fundraisers. Maybe an idea for folks from YO SOS or Crown Heights Youth Collective or elsewhere....

Seems like this gal may have ruined her chances of success. At least whoever moves into the space next will have a built out restaurant...

Looking at the wall pictured in the article, those holes were made by anchors put in to the wall to secure studs and sheetrock now removed. Nothing more. The owner should be in theatre for that farce.
