New Local Bar in Prospect — Brooklynian

New Local Bar in Prospect

I just moved back to prospect Heights after some time away from the neighborhood and was surprised by how much it has changed. However, I am glad to see that some new local bars are opening up, especially on 4th avenue which has been relatively underdeveloped. Saturday night I went to this bar on St. Marks and 4th (4th Ave Pub) and I would reccommend it to anyone from Prospect Heights, who like me Saturday night, was just looking for a chill spot, good atmosphere and laid back people but didnt want to troop into the city. It has an amazing beer selection (more than 20 different beers on tap) and the wood benches and dim lighting gives it that cozy feeling. The bartenders are really nice and friendly and there is a really great mix of people. The good thing is that its open until 4 am every night (a lot of bars in our neighborhood close earlier) so you can go by for a drink and then walk two blocks take the train 15 min to the city and then on your way home stop in before last call!

Since I have just moved back to the area, if any of you know of any other good bars around the area (but off the mainstream 5th and 6th ave Park Slope scene) let me know - or if any of you have been to 4th ave Pub how do you think it rates compared with the others bars around?

Thanks!!

  • I'm guessing that you are (a) an owner of the bar, (b) a friend of the owner of the bar, (c) an employee of the bar, or (d) just a regular guy that has no connection to this bar. Which one applies?
  • This is in fact the appropriate thread:

Naturally, in the Park Slope & Gowanus board.
  • Hey - lol no I just go in there all the time since it opened - I guess you could say Ive become friends with some of the people who work there but i am actually trying to find out what other "neighborhood" bars are in the area as well?
  • That sounds like a nice place, i'll check it out sometimes.
I've been going to Ripple since I heard of it on the board somewhere- on washington av at st. johns. Within in the first hour my friend and I were there, the bartender bought us 2 rounds of shots to celebrate another patron's birthday. The happy hour was $3 for all well drinks + beers, and the special was $7 raspberry martinis (very delicious).
The bartender even let another regular go behind the bar and fix his own drink. I recommend it!!

Do i sound like I work there?
