I need a recipie

OK all you chefs and cooking afficianados I need a favor - I am looking for a shrimp scampi recipie. I have tried a few but they were either too soupy or not garlicy enough and unfortunately it is an expensive dish to keep repeatedly "tweaking".

    I've actually never made that dish, but Mrs. C and I have a ton of cookbooks (a whole 84" x 36" bookcase full) if you'd like to come over and look through them.
  • It is such a pleasure to see something about cooking instead of baiting.

    I've never even eaten shrimp scampi, but the Chowhound Home Cooking boards have been very useful for me . . . here's a link with two recipes and tip.

    PS - thats a cool site - I can't believe I never came across it before.
    It used to be even better before Jim Leff sold the site to CNET. The interface is smoother now, but the content isn't what it used to be.

    I have, and about the authors. I don't particularly like picture books, but I think this is one of the big glossies with good recipes/info. What do you like for Korean? We got the Dok Suni book, but haven't done too much out of it. We made alot of bulgogi on the fire in Hillsdale this summer . . .

    On Chowhound, I think the slide predated the sale.
    But I still use it, esp the Home Cooking board. I like the SF community...

    We also have several general Asian cookbooks with good Korean food sections, including the Charmaine Solomon book and one of the Madhur Jaffrey books.

    Mrs. C points out that the most important thing for Korean food is to have the right ingredients! For Bulgogi and Kalbi, I can give you Mrs. C's mom's recipe if you want.

    i've never made any korean food, come to think of it, which is a major gap in my culinary education.

    We've made it from Dok Suni, and from Food & Wine -- an editor there (Grace Parisi - PH resident as it happens) did a good book called Get Saucey. Terrible title, I know, but lots of excellent recipes and I like the structure that hangs everything on the sauces with interchangeable vehicles.

    Kiwi was involved, as a meat tenderizer.
