DOT to the rescue!!!!
For those of us dealing with the Doric construction on Park it's gotten a little sweeter. After my building's Cablevision debacle I was inspired by the cops to write an email to the DOT and ask if the Doric's 2 dumpsters, 6 police bars, 3 broken air conditioners (freon anyone), and stuffed garbage can were all legally allowed to take up valuable parking spaces. Well, the weren't. I got a call from the DOT and they told me they had a permit for one dumpster effective until Sep 3. I recieved this message after I got home and parked in the spot formerly used for dumpster number two (My first hint). It's nice to know the power of a good well-written letter.
Tangent: Anyone else have a good story about the power of a well-written letter or well-delivered phone call?

Cool. Park and what?

Between Frankin and Classon. But, I moved my car for cleaning and another truck took its place while another is on the sidewalk. I still fell vindicated though.

Awesome

They haven't been bothering me too much lately (I think the demolition was probably the loudest stage of construction, what with giant chunks of building being tossed into metal dumpsters at all times of day), but it's nice to know that you got some results when they were bothering you. -
I was getting pretty irritated by the usagain clothes recycling bin in front of the stalled construction site on Underhill (between Prospect and St. marks). You have seen it featured in the random pictures on this site's front page. It was sitting in the street blocking a fire hydrant. I called 311 several times and they transferred me to the DOT (or maybe sanitation?). After several weeks, still nothing. Finally, I called 311 again, and was persistent enough to get transferred to the Brooklyn dispatcher for the NY Fire Department. This is the guy who sends out fire trucks for the entire boro. He said he'd call the local fire house. The box was gone the next day.
So, in this case, DOT wasn't quite so on the ball.
