Whereabouts is it? I could be into it.

I used to get a hare each fall and do it a different way... had a hare bakeoff one year where we had hare casserole, chocolate chili hare, and hare baked with cream cheese and fruits. Since we came to NY I don't know where to shop for game.

You can get yourself a bunny rabbit - as well as some other game-type meats - at Union Meat Market.

Any real butcher can get you that. I can name a bunch in Manhattan- Ottomanelli, Schaller and Weber, the butcher in Agata and Valentina (ask for Dieter), tons more. My list is biased towards Yorkville, because I used to live there, but any serious butcher should have no trouble getting you any kind of game meat.

I'm sure Staubitz in Brooklyn could do this.
  • Has anybody eaten cobra meat? I'm dying to try it. I found one place in Seattle that will ship it via air, but it is soooooooo expensive. Help me find cobra meat and I'll make you a cobra treat!
  • D'Artagnan distributes bunny, and god help us, the Coop sells it.
The Key Food on Fifth Ave also sells D'Artagnan, and the manager would no doubt order it for you if he doesn't already stock it - he is totally that way. Stand in an aisle looking for something for more than a minute and he's asking to help.
They have D'Artagnan duck demiglace and all sorts of fancy bits there. No cobra - that would no doubt require a trip to Queens.

al di la does a rabbit in black olives that some people rave about. Me, I was not so impressed.
