CLEAN RITE laundrymat on Fulton/Putnam Grand

I do my laundry there, but I typically do cold water washes. Tide makes that special coldwater detergent that pretty much rules. Colors last longer and my clothes don't shrink.
-
Ooh, that's good info re: Tide coldwater. I do more cold than anything else but worried that the detergent was a ripoff. Thx YH.

I use the Tide Cold Water as well. Cold water washes are a good way to save some energy.
-
Subject: oookayy, i'm all for saving energy
as much as the next hippie, BUT, certain items of mine have just got to get some HOT WATER on them, if ya know what i mean! i guess no one knows the answer to my question? i'll go over there and ask the man who works there tomorrow. -
Just curious, why do pillowcases and comforters need hot water?
-
Subject: biftek--i was referring to my UNDERWEAR
and towels. and sheets/pillowcases. because of dust mites. i need to wash my sheets in hot water because a temp of over 130 degrees kills dust mites, and i have allergies. -
Aha! That does make sense.

I've gone to the clean rite for years-but since the summer I've really felt and smelt that my clothes do not get cleaned well enough by their machines. I recently dropped some stuff off at bubbleworks and it came back so much cleaner than when I wash it myself at the Clean Rite. Especially the shirts.
I am thinking of giving up on the clean rite, frankly. -
I love Bubbleworks but have the opposite problem; more of my laundry is cold water wash that needs to drip dry. I remember when they were doing limited service when they first geared up; now their vans whizz around everywhere, I'm glad they found such a great niche.
-
Subject: BOLLETJE i think it's because of the hot water thing!
they are trying to skimp and save money! -
Most drop off places don't even use detergent, much less hot water.
-
Subject: ew, grandzu, really?
the few i have used have all used both. but i don't doubt that some skimp. -
I've been really happy with Bubbleworks so far--my clothes come back very clean! I also give them a bag of laundry to wash in hot water and one to wash in cold water/dry on low heat and so far nothing has been shrunk.
I do wish the Clean-Rite machines washed better because I like to do my own laundry and the place itself is always very clean.
Does anyone have any recommendations for other self-serve laundromats in the area? What about that one on Waverly by the Associated, any experiences?
