does the c train suck?

i rode the c train for the first time during the night few days ago boy. from f train to e to a train. and than back again at night many trains later.

I'm going assume that by your post that you were saying that the C train gave you problems?

Besides the long wait for the C train to come its otherwise pretty okay to me...

I agree. The C sucks at night, but I've yet to ride a train that doesn't suck at night.

Actually the A runs local at night, so the C is not an issue. The C is an underrated train--very reliable on weekday mornings and not as crowded as a lot of the other lines. And if you're heading to Lafayette on the A, you can always get off at Hoyt-Scherm and take the G instead if that comes first.

Also between Hoyt-Schermerhorn (where I catch the A/C) and 42nd Street the A only skips 2 local stops. That's not much of an express if you ask me. The C is more pleasant and gets you there pretty much at the same time.

I agree that the C train can frustrate with long waits. But even though it is infrequent, it is *reliably* infrequent. If you know what time it stops, you be there at that time and you can predict your commute time (7:30 at Lafeyette for me).

I look forward to the end of next month, when the weekend service will be restored.
Honestly, as long as I've waited for the C, nothing's worse than the G. Even MTA employees call it "the ghost train."

I've lived on the G for two years and I haven't noticed that it's that much worse than any other train. During rush hour it comes quite regularly. During off hours, it doesn't. Kinda like every other train in the city.

My biggest gripe with the G train is that when there's weekend construction it comes so infrequently it's virtually un-rideable. Before taking the G on weekends I always check for service advisories. Otherwise I think it gets a bad rep that it doesn't deserve.

Ditto boygabriel. Unless you're waiting for the G on a Sunday evening, it's my opinion every other train runs on schedule in Brooklyn. In the city it's jacked up on the weekends, but if you can cross the bridge, your options are better. Of course, "on schedule" is different for every train (for me the B & Q run like clockwork...but if I'm waiting on an A express I'll get 10 C locals at Jay St.) YMMV.

Subject: Loving the F service on the weekend

Though it's of course annoying that the C has been disrupted, I've been loving having easy access to the Lower East Side on the weekends lately. Would be lovely if it continued, though that's obviously unlikely.

They've been doing work on the C on the weekends lately, that is why you had to transfer to the different trains. Weekdays are fine and very regular for work.
