If increased rents or hipsters forced you out of your home.. — Brooklynian

If increased rents or hipsters forced you out of your home..

...and a week later you won the lottery and could afford to live in any neighborhood or block in all of New York City, where would you move?

Me?..I'm partial to Greenwich Village, by Bedford and Grove Streets. But It'd be nice to keep living in BK, maybe on the top of the Williamsburgh Bank Bldg. Just beneath the clock (and behind the scaffolding :? )

I always wanted the apartment in the Eagle Warehouse building that has the big clock too :)
  • yeah, I think I'd stay in BK and get the penthouse apartment in the Meier building. tricked out kitchen, stunning views, and the beloved nabe?

and maybe a brownstone in the west village somewhere.
  • i would probably want to buy something near the park :D or a nice loft somewhere near the water.
  • Tribeca.

Or this loft that I was in last week on Mercer and Broome. It was unfreakin believable. Triplex penthouse in Soho in triple mint condition, with a private art gallery on the top floor that led out to two fully finished roof gardens. And the ceilings on the first floor must have been 20 feet high. Actually makes me kind of sick thinking about it.

I might do it the other way around: a brownstone btwn Vanderbilt and Flatbush, and a condo loft in town.

and ... isn't it like 10 years late?
  • The top four floors of the Williamsburg Savings bank. Either that or Gerritsen Beach where I can keep my boat docked.
  • I want one of those carriage houses on PPW.

I used to live there and that is way late and way funny! Where the fuck have they been.

Anyway, I'd build something new very near The Cyclone. I know the commute would suck, but a frsh place near rides and the ocean would be dope. I could also geat plump on Nathan's dogs and find a million oddities each month at the flea market.
  • I would knock out a whole block in Prospect Heights and build an estate and no one could stop me. (The lottery I won was really, really big.)

    Would you include a prairie?
  • The Williamsburg Bank building, decorated to look like Alec Baldwin's Pan Am offices in the Chrysler Building in "The Aviator".
  • The boathouse in the park.
