Subject: what's your favorite videogames?

Due to a couple of friends in the industry, I've started playing more and more videogames. I never did the arcade thing growing up, but I'm starting to really enjoy playing and I'm getting better. Most of the games are PS2/Rockstar, so I've love to branch out a bit and try new stuff.

I was lucky enough to inherit a Nintendo DS last week and was wondering if anyone had recommendations--I've only got animal crossing and mario world thus far...what other games are out there aside from Final Fantasy (yawn).

My favorite games: Katamari Damacy, I Love Katamari, Soul Calibur II, Animal Crossing, Guitar Hero, GTA: Vice City, tetris (causes major OCD), Wario Ware, Rez. Favorite arcade game: Big Buck Hunter.

    I'm into the Star Wars series, I have a few Godzilla games. I'm picking up the Godfather and Scarface (if they have it for X-Box), I only wish that Microsoft would make their MS Flight Sim for X-Box. It would look awesome on my 36 inch.

    It's been a while since I've even had a game system, which will be evident when I say that my favorite EVER is "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."

    If that kid wants a Pepsi, an institution is the right spot. Foul swill. Useless talent: I can smell the difference between Coke and Pepsi.

    I can't speak for the DS...I have a PSP, which is better in some ways and worse in others. On the PC, CS:S and BF2142 at the moment. The PS2 gathers dust.

    when I had no social life aside from my bff's med skool apartment, I played endless PS2. and one of my ex's and I had a standing beef about my free use of grenades in "hunt" mode of original xbox halo. (I'm lousy at hunting, but I like to watch the map and toss a grenade at the right time to kill the asshat hunting ME)
    and then I gave up all video games except the sims. and all of my sims are alcoholics. or harry potter characters.

    The Civilization series is the best. It's like crack!

    I forgot one: Time Crisis 3. It's a shooting game and the litle up-down-left-right controller is on the gun. You can use the controller to duck behind rocks and barricades while shooting at the enemy.

    I cannot even begin to tell you about the level of obsession my friends and I had over Soul Calibur. Many Friday nights were spent in playing til our thumbs literally bled. Guitar Hero as well--you get the second guitar and start challenging each other and the next thing you know it's four am....

    I never really had NES or anything like that growing up so I miseed out on all the old school games.

    alafairnadia--if you like the sims you'd probably like Animal Crossing as well. I just got it and can't want to get started.

    idlewild--why do you use xbox and not PS2/3? It always seemed like Sony had such a clear advantage over the other systems, game wise...
