Parking in Prospect Heights

I live a little further down on St Marks but generally park over by you more.
Sad to say there are no cheap parking options in the area besides the street. I think the lot owners can smell our desperation.
Oe word of advice for parking on the street: Don't keep anything in your car. I recently had my car not just broken into but ravaged- personal photo albums and CD covers, and clothing tossed across Classon by druggies looking for a little cash. If they don't see anything in the car they won't have any reason to bust it open.
Also, you can usually find a spot if you look the night before. -

Just to add on to Squeegee's advice the other thing you can do is ask a neighbor whose home all day to move it for you and throw them a couple bucks each week.
Thanks -
I used to park over in Park Slope, and move it once a week. Eventually I realized I could usually move the car in PH in just a few minutes 3 or 4 times a week if I go out at 7AM or so. So the total time is probably less if you count walking time to the Slope.
I also call 311 early and often to check alternate side status - there are a lot of weird little holidays out there. The last day of Ramadan was sweet (at least I think that's what it was). Called 311, turned around and went right back inside. -
If we give away our secrets then we will lose our parking.

True. Parking is really a zero sum game. -

Even better, you can go to the NYC.gov website to get the full year's alternate side suspension schedule and sign up for email reminders. -
maybe when we're as gentrified as park slope we'll be allowed to move our cars just once a week too.
