question about bergen st. between classon and franklin

Less than five minutes to the shuttle, especially if they're at the end of the block -- it's only a couple of blocks south of Bergen. But that block does seem kind of desolate and sketch, safety-wise.

heven't spent a lot of time on that block, but the walk between bergen & prospect place on classon is fine (the converted jewish hospital is right there and there are always people around), the walk on franklin can be a bit more deserted.
the shuttle itself feels very safe (it's a manned station) and trains run pretty close to the schedule. going into manhattan you have the choice of taking it south to the 2/3/4/5 or north to the c line. The other day it took me 40 minutes from the S to get to 23rd & 7th on the 2/3 -
I live the next block over and usually park on that block. I did have my car broken into on the corner of Classon & Bergen once, and saw two other cars broken into on that same block at seperate ocassions. It's very deserted during the night, but further up toward Grand, or closer toward St Marks it gets a little more crowded.
The walk to the shuttle is peachy from there. The shuttle? Also peachy. On time, usually clean, quick, well-timed connections. -
what time at night does it start to become deserted/scary?

It's never totally deserted as there's that Bodega on the Classon corner, but I'd say when the sun goes down it tends to get a little iffy. However, I think my own shadow is out to mug/kill me, so get a second opinion.

hey- I live on the corner of bergen & classon, i don't know how the rest of the block is because i don't ever go down it, just really down classon towards the train, which is perfectly fine. I've also walked a few times at night down bergen towards grand, and I actually felt really uncomfortable (which rarely happens) because that street is very deserted, with parking garages and abandoned buildings and such.. but most of the part block that you are talking about is populated, right?
anyway, the bodega on the corner is open until midnight, the guys in there are really nice, and there are usually people hanging out outside which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.
ps even after the sun and the bodega lights go off, on classon i think it is still relatively ok, but again, i haven't walked down bergen. -
