Well - I tried Antonio's it was pretty close to what I wanted, but a bit too greasy... Still, it hit the spot. I'll try Gino's next weekend.

Antonio's is WAY better than Gino's. which is sad, because Gino's is right so close to my apartment.

if you are into whole wheat crust Antonio's is quite good, and if you ask for extra crispy it keeps the center from being goopy

Is the Gino's on Washington about the same quality as the one on Flatbush? -

The Gino's on Flatbush is truly excrecable! You'd honestly be better off making an English muffin pizza, or having frozen supermarket pizza than eating there. I cannot believe that place somehow manages to stay open. -
Gino's on Washington is crap. Gino's on Flatbush and Bergen is pretty good for just straight up pizza. And, yes, they deliver to Washington and probably past it!

There are some good places around, but if we ignore national chains, there's a disproportionately high number of sub-par pizza shops in the BK.
Damn right. Brooklyn needs to rethink its place in the pizza universe. You can’t judge a city's pie by the highpoints of the highpoints. You’ve got to take the average slice. You walk in a pizza store: how is that pie? In my experience in Brooklyn, the most generous thing you can say about it is that it’s passable. Ray’s Pizza? Get out of here. I’ve had better pie in Mexico City. And two boots? That’s not really pie – that’s chicken on a roll with tomato sauce. Antonios? Just slightly above Meh…I know there are great pizza places out there, but I don’t want destination pizza, I just want good daily pizza. And honestly, I think Brooklyn pies (and don't get me started on New York in general) aren’t any better then anywhere else in US… on average, they seem to me to be worse. I feel bad for tourist who come here expecting good pie and then end up eating this grease.
Marty Markowitz needs to do something about this if he’s going to fight off Dominos. Maybe start a commission for the general improvement of Brooklyn pizza. Right now the emperor has no toppings -
Has anyone ever tried Twins Pizza recently? Its on Nevins bet. State and Atlantic. We used to order from there when I lived over there (long long time ago) it is was really pretty good. (Plus you got two pies instead of one). I dont think I have found a really good pizzeria since Queens Pizza on Atlantic closed.
I do LOOOOVE the brick oven pizza from John's of Bleeker. -
graziella's has good pizza, though i'm not sure if they deliver.
joe's of bleecker on 7th in PS has delivered to me all the way on Park Place and Franklin before. -

Markowitz wouldn't know a good slice of pizza if it bit him on the ass. Remember, this is a man who swears by Juniors, the Mill Basin Deli and the Atlantic Mall because it's done in "Brooklyn Dodger" style. I would soon just pick five native New Yorkers (one from each boro) to run La Familia Pizzeria. -

that's the best pizza i've had delivered here since oscar's closed.DenverNougat wrote: I've spent the night googling to no avail... where's the best pizza that delivers in prospect heights? Edited, to save others the hassle - thanks everyone for the advice
that's just sad. both are pretty mediocre.
Gino's Pizza
718 230 3932
or
Antonio's Pizzeria & Restaurant
(718) 398-2300
and domino's is trying to imitate this crap? or is brooklyn just a meaningless marketing word now? i'm sure "brooklyn style" doesn't mean grimaldi's. -
Antonio's
It's the only one we keep in the client menu book. -
In the interest of research, I went ahead and ordered a Dominoes Brooklyn style pizza. It actually wasn't that bad, but I figure I'll keep going to Antonio's if only to do my part to keep the chainification of everything at bay.
-
No mention of Roma on 7th yet. They deliver to us East of Underhill, and the quality is fine for what we get.
-
I want to second the Graziella's reccomendation. It's not delivery, but if you don't mind biking down Vanderbilt just past Dekalb, Graziella's is my new fave thin crust oven baked place.
They have really good salads and pasta stuff too. (its a real restaurant.) The clientele is a nice diverse crowd which reflects its Ft Greene location.
It's no Difara's (THAT man is an artist) but its good, friendly and close. ALSO, its never got a line like Grimaldi's. In the summer, there are roftop tables and in the winter the bar has the NFL package to keep up with your games. (I don't, but the man in my life does...) good place -
i can't believe it's 11:10p saturday night and i can't get a pie delivered. what's up with that?!
-
Gino's and Smiley's are dog squeeze. Antonios for traditional Brooklyn pizza, Amorina for more creative fare.

Whoah, I didn't know they have a Brooklyn branch! I love their pies. Can you post the phone number, pretty please? -
antonio's is quality pizza

Joe's number is
(718) 398-9198 - I added it above too, but if they don't deliver to your area let me know. -
Ate at Joe's. Pie was not so hot. Less greasy then Antonio's, but the crust was overdone. Of the three, in my expert, pizza-craving opinion, Antonio's is the best we can get in Prospect Heights. I will continue to test pizza delivery as new places emerge, but I'm not hopeful that Antonio's can be improved upon.
-
brief observation re: Antonio's pizza - it is best when reheated. I like to take a slice on a piece of tinfoil and stick it in my oven for a few minutes. the cheese crisps up a bit more, as does the crust. 100x better.

I think that's true of most mediocre pizza. -

Joe's is hit or miss, depending on who's working and what time of day it is. I've had both very good and very bad slices there. I know inconsistency isn't exactly a selling point, but you should give them another try before writing them off completely. -
Pizza in PH has been so-so for me, I even tried the pizza from Parkside Diner. It's tough comparing the pizza quality in the PH places when I grew up in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst where they have the best pizza in Brooklyn.

Well, better than around here, anyway. -
just bumping this thread to say we've now ordered several times from michael's. the pizza's have been consistently quite good--maybe not brooklyn's best but i'd say the best that delivers here. (haven't tried chicago 60 yet.) and their greek salads are also surpisingly good for delivery.
recommended.

I agree that Michael's isn't bad for the area.
