Crime on Vandy Part II: Just tonight I saw:

leeho
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
A car switch lanes without indicating via signal.

An illegal u-turn.

A jaywalker.

A kid throwing a football on a public space unintended for throwing a football, "the sidewalk."

A tree planter of inadequate height and city code violations regarding it.

Tumbleweed blowing in the damp wind without a permit.

Ugh. People eat while walking down the street in PH? How uncouth.

I'm joking about that, but it really does annoy me when I'm on the train minding my business and some slob sits near me and cracks open the styrofoam container of nasty pork fried rice. It's always G.D. pork fried rice, and it always stinks. So, uh...don't do that. Rant over. Here's some crap about cats: http://catsinurstuffbyinu.ytmnd.com/
  • at the risk of getting totally blasted...

i was at the 77th precinct community council meeting last night and...
    the reality is, come november,
crime does pick up on the west side of the precinct
    vanderbilt was specifically mentioned
and the advice was to keep your eyes open and be aware that the situation exists.

Brooklyn crime has not changed much in this repsect to holiday frequency.

We are now at that time of the year when crime picks up before Thanks Giving past all the December holidays (pick one, it's all good) into the New Year. I guess crooks wait for the hallween decorations to come down first.

Neene has good advice. Local precinct meetings are very informative as to what is going in your neighborhood and others. A example, a lot of crime during the holidays drifts over from the head of the Slope, near 4th avenue and of course people wil say that it's over there but there's nothing to stop it from drifting over. Heroin has never gone out of style, and it has a collateral affect. Dean street by fourth ave. had three muggings last month alone and I'm sure they are related to the ones in PH. All the victims were women.

The best advice is the be more aware at this tme of the year when getting home late, you are probably being observed.

Well, I don't want to leave this post sounding so negative. Hmmmm. Ugh. Mmmmm. Happy Holidays everybody!

'bout a month ago, standing room only on the train, and what does this girl decide? That her little kid just can't wait to get home and eat, so she busts out mashed potatoes and gravy from KFC. Shit you not - kid is swaying back and forth as his mom tries not to spill her container of gravy while aiming her spoon at his maw. I SO thought that someone was going to get a lapful of their dinner on 'em.
  • someone eating while walking what a crime should get at least 10 years behind bars.
  • I saw someone fail to: capitalize, punctuate and recognize tongue-in-cheek. 20 years, minimum.

 Welcome to the boards. Lighten up. :D
  • An unfortunate event, yet again! Several young people in their mid-twenties or early thirties were seen walking out of an establishment named "Soda." I mean, golly, what is a place with that name doing serving liquor? I assumed I could get a neat-o egg cream there, only to discover heinous acts of drunkenness. Furthermore, I filed a noise complaint, as it was 8:30, and these young people, if you can call them that, were discussing things in an unusually loud manner. Stay away from that place and whatever "The Beast" may be. Furthermore, I saw an establishment selling creepys with a French-Morrocan name! Must be terrorists. Don't be fooled by the false sense of security by the baby strollers and toy dogs. The avenue is infested with drunkards and crime. I'm praying for them all!
