Wow, VeggieQueen--
I was just signing on to say that I'd learned that Counter on the Lower East Side is having a Thanksgiving dinner/wine pairing. Fortunately, I was able to get reservations.
Thanks so much for your response.

yea that's what i've been to before... for valentine's day and new year's eve. unfortunately when i went it was a little chaotic... they didn't leave enough time between the seatings for the turnover. you are also packed in like sardines. hopefully they've had a few more of these prix fixe dinners to iron out the kinks.
but, i think the food is wonderful and both occasions were very festive. we'll probably be back for new year's! -
you can order a bunch of "sides" from applewood for about $100 for 2 people.

do ppl really like hangawi? I find it really bland and boring. and, of course, way too quiet. it's also damn expensive (for what you get). -

The reviews are mixed. A vegan friend from North Carolina raves about Hangawi and swears if she had the money, she'd eat there daily. A meat-eating friend, who grew up in Korea, says it's a good place to get screwed eating overpriced, pseudo-Korean food. -

That's exactly how I feel about Tsampa on East 9th Street in Manhattan. Tsampa's food is not as expensive as Hangawi, but it did not excite me.
