Whatever happened to monster movies on Thanksgiving? — Brooklynian

Whatever happened to monster movies on Thanksgiving?

Does anyone else remember watching King Kong (all the versions), Mighty Joe Young, and the Godzilla movies on channel 9 (when it was WWOR) on Thanksgiving afternoon when we were kids (70s/early 80s)? How did that start anyway? And whatever happened to that grand tradition?

Dunno what happened to it. I do remember it though. That was more important to me than the family dinner. I also remember the annual T-day Cowboys vs Redskins games courtesy of the NFL. As an aside, does anyone remember Monster Week on Channel 7's 4:30 p.m. Afternoon Theater or WPIX's (Channel 11) Chiller Theater at midnight with the six fingered hand?
