My friend's parents are visiting her in the neighborhood tomorrow, and she would like to take them out for good Panamanian food. Recommendations?

I don't know of any local Panamanian restaurants, but there is the annual Panamanian festival in Mount Prospect Park (link to pix below), so it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask if there are any restaurants representing the cuisine in the nabe. Food at that festival is terrific, btw. Just 9 months to go until the 8th annual festival...

  • This is the only thing in the area I could find on the Chowhound boards:

    Kelso Dining
    648 Franklin Ave

    Sounds good, though!
  • Thanks! My girlfriend is Panamanian, and I've been looking for a place in the area that serves Panamanian food for a while. Hopefully we'll go this weekend, and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Also, we actually stumbled upon the festival mentioned this summer and had some really great Panamanian food. I'd definitely recommend everyone check it out next summer.

Actually, if anyone knows of good Panamanian food anywhere else in greater NYC, I'd love to hear about that too!
