-
I rode over there yesterday, and am happy to report, if anyone's interested, that the neighborhood is quite charming and lovely, with beautiful houses and trees. A friend has a basement apt. to rent, and it's affordable. If you want more info, PM me. I was considering it for myself, but for variuos reasons, I passed.

call it FLATBUSH.
No one that lives there calls it Prospect Lefferts Gardens, even though I know it's what the map says, you'll stick out like a sore thumb
I used to live on Hawthorne between Bedford and Rogers and it was okay, I still have friends from my old block. Lots of cool people.
Too many roaches in that building though..nastaayy!! -
There is a Prospect Lefferts Gardens historic district and people who live there at least definitely call it that. I went on a house tour there this past summer, and some of the houses are beautiful. There is some kind of zoning regulation mandating that all of the houses within the district have to be single family owned and occupied, so you couldn't buy a house and rent out part. It keeps the area very stable.
There have been past threads on the nabe that you should check out if you're interested. You could also try PM'ing Medusa, who grew up there. -
You're right, I've met a few that do. Most of them are older than me though, and I'm 30... but yes, it is true that some do. My favorite block in that neighborhood is Midwood, between Flatbush and Bedford. Have you seen?

I had no idea it was so lovely. WHen I'm ready to move, I'm looking there.

And one of the things I certainly don't miss about living in brooklyn is those DAMN ROACHES  -
Really.. well I always said Flatbush unless it was on the other side of Kings County Hospital, towards the Utica side, or down by the Junction.. like in the 90's and 50's?
