huh? it's from december ... -
Shoot. You're right I looked at the join date.. sorry
-
I'd have to guess that this happened at about 7:00pm and the crime scene was gone by 11:30.

He hasn't really tried to hide that. -
Yep, I came home from the movies a little before 7pm and fire and police were on the corner. I asked one of the cops what happened and she said a man was injured, they weren't sure how and they were looking for witnesses. The corner was roped off most of the evening. News 12 reported this morning that the man had a "lacceration to the groin". Not sure if someone tried to stab the guy in the balls or what.
Given the time of day and the amount of foot traffic on the street, its very possible that this occured elsewhere and the guy was trying to stumble home when he collapsed.
I've got to believe that if someone tried to pull a Bobbitt on the corner, it would have been seen. Wonder if the stop snitching guys will be as vocal if a serial penis remover is on the loose in the hood? -
...Or he's got a really fantastic scanner!
I'm not sure if he's a cop becasue I don't think a cop would tell someone to call and state that they saw a gun on a person when they didn't to get the police there over a dice game. If he is a cop and he is suggesting people do that, then he is a living example of why people should be afraid of cops. -
Sorry, my comment was in reference to a post by ParadeRest in another thread.
-
And you're response was totally ridiculous.

To each is own, ParadeRest. You wrote it man, and if I read into it in such a way, cest la vie.

Brooklyn: Man Is Fatally Stabbed
By MICHAEL WILSON
An unidentified homeless man was found unconscious on a street corner in Crown Heights on Saturday night and later died from a stab wound, the police said yesterday. The man was found shortly before 7 p.m. at Nostrand Avenue and Park Place, the police said. Area residents said yesterday that he was a fixture in the neighborhood, and that he was seen harassing passers-by on Saturday. A spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office said yesterday that the man had died of a stab wound to the groin, with vascular injuries. The police searched for witnesses in the area last night. -
I walked down Nostrand to the Key Foods a bit before 7 PM on Saturday. On the way back, maybe 15 min max, the police, fire truck and EMS were already there and lifting him into the ambulance. I was just amazed how quickly this unfolded and how it had happened on this really busy corner and no one saw anything.
There was still blood on the crosswalk as of Monday night. -
Parade, do you know how to find out the name of the victim? I'm a little concerned it might have been the guy who shovels my snow during the winter. He's one of the homeless that's a regular on the block.
-
Last I knew he was unidentified. You can try calling the 77 squad or 77 community affairs. Try some of the community groups.

Awesome work! Homeowner, how much do you pay him? Just enough to keep him around? Just to keep him? What are you gonna have to do now? Pay for a service?
Life sucks in the ghetto, yeah? -
LeeHo, I pay him as much as he asked any time he worked for me. Some times he asked for clothes or food and then I would buy him what he wanted. The fact he was homeless didn't mean that I would try to take advantage of him, the same way I don't take advantage of any other person that provides a service to me.
He happened to be the first person that I met when I moved on the block, as he offered to help me unload my belongings when I was moving into my house. He was a neighbor, as he lived in an empty building nearby. He has his own personal demons and told me about how he ended up living on the street, but he is still a human being and I treated him as such. I asked, because the man told me several years ago that he had a family and that his wife had recently died. He has adult and teenage children who live neearby and if it was him, I'd like to contact them give my condolences and let them know that although their dad had problems he was a good person and someone appreciated the fact that he walked the earth.
Once again, you are making assumptions about folks, and since you don't know me or what I know about the ghetto, you might want to back the fuck up. -
Homeowner I appreciate your calm response to LeeHo's nasty comments. LeeHo is constantly trying to incite riots on the board.
-
Word on the street was that the guy, a local rastafarian that is drunk alot, that should narrow it down since they usually dont drink, I digress, harassed the local drug kids selling and hanging on the corner. They knew he was harmless but set on him anyway. Senseless and stupid. They guys are known in the neighborhood, and lets hope someone who knows who it is specifically calls the cops. Who needs these guys on the street?

You have no idea how difficult it was to get those trees planted. My I suggest that you guys go to the community board to get the application forms, then ask the property owners to sign the application, then submit it to the community board and wait and wait and wait. The fun part is getting those signatures. -
Wrong thread, rockmocho.

You don't see the connection? I recommend seeing The Fountain. Tree planting is an entirely appropriate response to death. -

Are you talking about Lenny? My boyfriend and I were really worried that it was Lenny too, when we didn't see him around afterwards. Then we saw him sorting the recyclables. Lenny is an institution on this block
Another thing that bothered me about this whole episode was the attitude that the cop pawing through my garbage gave my friends and I as we were leaving the building. "Well this is what you signed up for" he said in that prissy little lace curtain mcmanner of himself.
Oh aren't you cute! No, what I signed up for was the student loans that I had to take out to become educated because my dad made a cop's salary.
Nobody signs up for that, and really no neighborhood should have to tolerate a greater level of violence due to economic situation. What an asshat.
