Grand Plaza Liquor (btwn Park Sterling on Washington)
I love this place. seriously. they deliver for free. they carry my favorite cava (segura viudas). and they stay open past 9, which no non-bodeaga grocery store does on washington ave, nor does any other liquor store in the hood.* anyway, I'm in no way connected to this place other than being a vaguely reclusive bubbly-addict who appreciates their service. their number, should you desire a delivery, is 718.789.3975
*Love has whack hours -- sometimes they're open after 9, sometimes they're closed at 8:30. and Fermented Grapes stays open til 10 on Friday and Saturday. what about Tuesday?

Yeah, I love their help-yourself free samples of wine. My girlfriend always gives me guff about it, but I try to sneak in a sip or two.

Subject: Liquor store
I'm pretty sure the store on the corner of bergen and washington is open past 9, especially on weekends. -

back on topic: anyway, they also give a 10% case discount. next time I have a party, I'm totally getting a case of riuniti lambruso, just to say I've purchased one in my life.

Oh pish. Half the fun is the cheapness. I haven't opened it yet though. I'm saving for my house party. Nothing says freshman year like champagne jello shots! -

i couldnt agree more... i do enjoy indulging in a bottle of champale or something from the bodega now and then, even when i can afford better beer 8)
its the alcoholic beverage equivalent of wearing a thrift store t-shirt. -

but i most definitely agree... how else would i know about the $1.59 "country club" 40's at galed bodega? -

Please post after you drink it--I'm so curious about that stuff. It looks entirely ghetto, but then I thought that about Hollandia too before I was introduced to its deliciousness. -

Pensodyssey, you are a gentleman and a scholar!
You should start a class at Bklyn College on "idiot guest vernacular." Maybe Comp Lit? -

Sadly, that's how many of my students already write!
But for the record, I am all for cheap booze. After all, there's nothing finer than a yachtsman with an alexi base! -
For the (cheap... well, relatively) bubbly aficionados- any favorites out there? alafairnadia, you mentioned your favorite cava, what kind of price tag? I need to pick up a case of something for mimosas/non-superspecial drinking occasions... my current cheap favorite is Saint Hillaire (sp?)...

I'd second that, but fortune has found me blessed with an endless supply of upper to extreme top shelf shit, for free and dude...I love it. It's fucking awesome. The good stuff is good for a reason. God help me if I change jobs and lose this perk, i'll go broke trying to fund my drinking habits.

With all this liquor between us, we need a Daily Heights "Get Smashed" Party. I'll bring the peach Andre, Rhodamine's on the 40s, Daveb can bring the classy shit, and everyone else pitch in with something in between. First one to puke get banned!

at the plaza, I like to get the segura viudas. it's $10 a bottle. at loves, they have something with a weird french name that I believe is $7.99 a bottle, and I *think* it's the same thing that's $25 a bottle at half, but not sure. it tastes like it. at olives'/olivia's (not sure what the name is) in ft. green, they have a good cava for like $7.50 a bottle, or $8.50. it's not cordoniu or I would move to ft. green. but it's still good. -

I've got a bottle of j.w. black that I need to pour more of. too smoky for my taste but I keep trying to drink it. I will donate it to the effort. no one is touching my stoli and presidente stash. unless I like you. -
I've got an extra bottle of cashaca. Anyone like caipirinas?
-
i'm afraid that i'm addicted to the fancy stuff too
i have a delicate stomach, and the cheap stuff tends to give me agita. except for that bandit brand box wine. its SO damn tasty, and 6 bucks a box!
lately i've been drinking sailor jerry's rum though...and damn if i can't have more than one drink with it, its SO strong...but so lovely. -

oh man, we got like a case of that for our july 4th party this year... it was actually pleasant stuff, and it went well with our "no american beers/liquors" theme for the day :P
i highly reccommend it. its even better than hollandia, which sometimes tastes a tad bit off...
