Christmas trees in South/Park Slope? — Brooklynian

Christmas trees in South/Park Slope?

shinybeast
edited November -1 in Park Slope
We paid crazy money for a dried-out tree from the guys in front of Steve's C-Town last year. Don't want to repeat that mistake again, but we're car-less and have to walk it home (we live in South Slope off 7th).

Can anyone recommend a place within walking distance in the area that's not crazy expensive? Windsor Terrace fine if it's reasonably close to the movie theater.

Thanks.

  • Windsor Street btw. 9th/10th Ave. Very close to 9th Ave corner. I just saw them a few hours ago, but not sure how late they're open. That's only about 3 blocks from the theatre
  • Thanks, Flexi. I'm going to check it out later this afternoon.
  • What are trees going for this year? How much should I expect to pay for a small (4 feet or so) tree bought within the next week? $20-$30?
  • For those people with cars, there are two very good places in Kensington/Windsor Terrace. Those beautiful Fraser trees that go for $100 in the slope are $40-50 over here and they have lasted a long time. One place is the weird little florist on Corelyou road and like East 6th Street? and the other is Shannon's on Ft. Hamilton. I think because they are actualy flower shops and not a little once a year operation, they have some responsibility to sell decent trees. I am sure other florists would have good trees too such as maybe the guy on Flatbush Avenue?
  • Flexichick, just got a huge, gorgeous tree (9ft or maybe more -- very full) at the place you recommended (Windsor Place off of Prospect Park W) for only $50. I think we paid $85 ($90) last year from those ripoff artists in front of Steve's C-Town for a tree that was at least a foot shorter and was dropping massive amounts of needles from day one. Thanks a bunch for the recommendation!

Escap, I think they had small trees for $15 to $30. A great deal.

Everyone, please note. The place Flexi recommended is a florist (I think), not a tree operation, so they aren't really equipped to roll out tree after tree for you to inspect. Maybe we lucked out by getting a good one on the first try.
  • Yay! Glad you scored a good one at a good price

I can't do a tree because my two cats would just see it as a giant toy and I don't have the patience for it.
