Why the word Park is in Park Slope

AS a car owner who lives in Prospect Heights who parks his car in Park Slope, I resent Manhattanites taking up precious space.

Is this a widespread practice? It doesn't seem like it would be all that practical.

Is parking that tough in PH? It seems like I see a lot of spots (stupid New York thing to notice, I know - and I don't even have a car) when I'm in the neighborhood, but of course that's just a casual observation. -
Seems like a lot of trouble, especially with having to move the car for alternate-side. It's not like it's so easy to park in Park Slope anyway. All the Manhattanites I know act like it's sooooo much trouble to come out to Brooklyn; are they really coming out here to park their cars?

You have to move your car four times a week in PH. For some reason it's only twice in PS. If I wasn't so paranoid about break ins I'd probably park on McDonald Ave. between PPW and Ft. Hamilton right by Greenwood. Tons and tons of spaces available 24/7 and I believe you only have to move twice a week as well. -
Yep, even better is PS folks on their way to the R train park on 23rd/24th Sts. and 6th Ave then walk the block & a half to the subway.
I guess it's easier than cruising for a space a 7am around PS proper...
