gunshots outside of ripple — Brooklynian

gunshots outside of ripple

fuck. I just called 911 - I saw a woman stumble out of a car, after gunshots from my side of the street, and collapse outside of ripple. the driver grabbed her and dragged her back in. he turned around and drove her toward e. pkwy - hopefully to kings county.

now there's cops everywhere. first time ever I've reported my name and number to 911. fuckin' horrifying.

  • Yeah... i just got home and saw the aftermath. A bystander said a man fired shots into a car, and a woman in the passenger side was hit in the neck. And, as you said, she got out of the car before being dragged back in and driven to the hospital. Cops confirmed she DID arrive at the hospital. Apparently no one else was hit, and I was told by said bystander that about 5 shots were fired.

Crazy, man... Two shooting within 100 feet from each other in a few weeks. Y
  • OMG I just heard the shots coming home with a friend--but I have never technically heard gunshots I thought but then I swore that must have been them

    THAT IS FUCKING HORRIBLE

    Is the lady okay?????
  • i heard the shots, too. 4 or 5. then the lady got out of the car but i thought i heard her yell that her friend got shot - ? then the driver got out of the car, picked her up, threw her back in the car and drove away.

that's always the corner were stuff happens.
  • I really hope so. she was screaming. so upsetting. the whole thing was really upsetting.
  • Was the shooter in the car as well?

Are we sure she was shot in the neck? Were teh cops able to tell you anything?
  • i just heard everything from my apt. across the street.
  • the shooter was on the cafe shane side, I believe
  • There are news photog taking pix of ripple right now. and tons of cops - more arriving. so scary.
  • It happened less than an hour ago and the news is already there? That's impressive.
  • alafairnadia wrote: There are news photog taking pix of ripple right now. and tons of cops - more arriving. so scary.
I'll look for the news report.. From what I heard on the scene from that bystander, the woman was the only person hit, and arrived at the hospital fairly quickly. Hopefully everyone will turn out okay.

Scary.. but let's not get too scared yet. Shootings are always someone acting out on some bullshit, but as long as it's not entirely random, i think we're still relatively safe here on Washington Ave.
  • yeah... my history involves shootings into my apartment in harlem so I'm a little like "bullets? THE DEVIL!" so... I'm not as dismissive.

in any case, I wentdown there (once I was sure the shooter was gone). it turns out the shooter was in another vehicle! traveling toward atlantic! (doh...) the woman is still apparently ok (she's the only reason I went down there - I didn't think I could sleep knowing someone I'd watched collapse and be dragged into a car might die). the cops were a wee bit pissed at me - I dove into Ripple when the camera lights came on. and then I only would talk to them if we went to my building's stair well. I wanted to be warm and safe.

I'm really scared for that poor woman. what an awful situation. I hope she's ok.
  • The cops should be glad you would only talk inside the stairwell, it's damn cold out!
  • The woman is ok. I know that for a fact. The shots were fired at a drunken guy that couldn't drive himself home.

    Why? I dunno.

It's good to know that she is okay, right?

    Fucked up.

totes. honestly, the stair well may have been their suggestion. they had me standing on the street and I went into the bar when the lights came on and thought "this is warm. thank god."

then I came back out b/c I knew it'd be warmer in my house. they said something like " we can go to wwhere you live." and I thought "look at my brightly lit door! it's WARM!" and said "I live right over there" and one guy said "where it looks warm?" and it went from there. so it wasn't purely my idea. I think they were more mad/irritated with my inability to follow their "stand here" direction. and I only bolted cause of the lights.
  • I wonder if anyone caught the plates of the shooter's car.
  • LeeHo wrote: The woman is ok. I know that for a fact. The shots were fired at a drunken guy that couldn't drive himself home.
    .
Wait, what? The shots were fired not at the lady but at some other guy and he missed him? And we don't know why another driver was shooting at him>?
  • I didn't even know there was another car (as it was, as described, under my front windows and invisible). I got no plates. useless witness.

yes. wait, you were there? I didn't see you. are you ok?
  • That was weird...I typed a response, hit "submit", the page refreshed but my post was gone. I went back to Ohio but my city was gone. Anyway...

I wonder if they have any exterior cameras over there. I should clarify; I wonder if they have any properly operating exterior cameras with quality recordings. Too many times the cameras don't work or the video is totally useless because of it's poor quality.

Upon hearing about this violent crime, LeeHo immediately hailed a cab and rushed to Kings County Hospital. Along the way he stopped to get a bouqet of flowers and box of chocolates. A true ambassador of good will.

Don't get excited, Lee. I'm just kidding around.

not sure. my mum (*cough*) made me turn off all of my interior lights (we were chatting on the phone - she also heard the gunshots - (um, awesome, no, to have your mum hear gunshots at your joint in nyc??) - and she was like "turn off your lights!!!") and I didn't see any telltale evidence of cameras outside. I think the neighborhood is still 'hood enough to lack cameras on both lightposts, traffic lights and building entrances. oopsie.

I wouldn't be surprised. honestly, wouldn't be surprised to hear that either of you did this. :? :? :?

    this = flowers
  • Not me. I'm too cheap.
  • So in response to the last shooting thread on Washington ave, it does seem entirely possible that innocent bystanders do often get caught in the crossfire. The catlayst for such incidents usually stems from some non sense. I hope this is a wake up call for some of us on this forum. Be more involved in whats going on in the community. The STOP SNITCHIN attitude only serves the criminals in the neighborhood.
  • Did anyone know about this shooting just down the street on Saturday...

I'm, unfortunately, going to be in Delaware on the 11th for work, but if I can make it back to the city by the time that meeting is set to start, I'm going to try to go. enough is enough - I have zero interest in getting shot because some asshat has a beef and a gun.
  • APOLOGIES!! This is mad old, but today's date appeard on the screen, so i thought it was 'news'. Forgive me
