The menus in question clearly came from Dominos, and they were returned to Dominos. I don't think that's so crazy. ...
Yeah. They are, like, one guy in my head. Of course, Emerson wouldn't have endorsed that way of thinking either, even when he and Thoreau weren't getting along.

I didn't mean to suggest you or your husband were crazy. I am sure that is frustrating, especially the case you mention, which is obviously some act of laziness on the part of the pizza joint. ...I'm just saying, to the madding crowd around us, that trying to match annoyances with annoyances never makes things better. I mean, it's legal to distribute these fliers in the manner they do. Is it legal to dump your garbage inside a grocery store?

Well, we might be, it's okay.

I don't know about the legalities, but if someone throws trash in my yard, I feel okay about throwing it back in their yard (or store, in this case).

I don't know about where Rose lives, but at my house the fliers are distributed by sad-sack-looking guys pushing them in shopping carts. They get paid to go out with a full cart of fliers and come back with an empty one. I'm sure there is not a sophisticated high-tech monitoring system ensuring how the fliers get distributed, and something tells me these guys do not feel like invested stakeholders with an interest in making sure that Dominos (or whoever) is advertised as efficiently as possible. So they pretty much have every incentive to dump as many fliers on your stoop as they can, whether or not it's likely there are actually 10 households in your house. Gets the job done faster.
