Ack!....Pillow is moving! — Brooklynian

Ack!....Pillow is moving!

Oh, Crap.

The folks at Pillow told me they're moving at the end of the month. They're going further down Myrtle near the Associated. I don't know exactly which space.

Not sure I can drag my ass that far for my morning bagel. But good for those of you down that way. Enjoy the Schadenfreude Pie!

I'll still go for the samiches, though!

  • hmmm...there's that restored place that's part of the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization project that would be a perfect place for a coffee shop.

That yellow building attached to Castro's seemed to be having a lot of activity but I assumed it was part of Castro's expansion.

There's the McD's space as well as Planet Pleasure...

I'm actually excited - I live close to that area and hated walking to Tillie's. (Which I never thought had great coffee and the service was really slow.)
  • Never heard of this place but it's moving towards my apt so I'm happy.

What is it? A coffee/bagel shop?
  • It's coffee, juice, bagels, lox, muffins and samiches for lunch. Really good stuff and really nice people. You'll like it. (If you can't wait til they move, they're currently on Myrtle btwn Adelphi and Clermont.)

Sounds good to me. Anything to compete with Bergen Bagels. They have good bagels, but the crowds in the moring, esp. on weekends, are completely unreasonable.

I think Bergen Bagels is gettin' too big for their breeches. The last time I was there they told me that they don't take credit cards. Wha?? And while the bagels are OK, they are not to die for and certainly not worth a long wait. I hope Pillow will bring it on, because it's time for some competition.

    New2Brooklyn is now The Changeling
  • I have yet to have a good bagel from Bergen Bagels. The bagels at Tillies are awesome but now I feel like taking a (long) walk down to Pillow--time to scope out the competition! Sorry Nathan. :(
  • Are you all kidding? Am I on crazy pills? Maybe I just have low bagel standards, because I love Bergen's.
  • Yeah I think Bergen's has pretty good bagels. Definitely above average, imo.
  • Subject: New Pillows location

I'll be moving in soon around Classon and Lexington. Where is pillows going to be on Myrtle?
  • I guess I could have posted a link earlier....DUH!!

and jimspahr, don't know exactly which storefront they're moving to, but figure 3-4 blocks west of Classon.
  • Thanks for the info.
  • I think that they are moving into the storefront across the street from the place where McDonald's was. I heard it was the gorgeous blue storefront made out of cast iron (maybe between Ryerson and Grand?).

yes, they're moving to 505 myrtle avenue. i think there's a "for rent" sign in front. Awesome!
  • Subject: pillow rules

pillow is half a block from my house on adelphi and we've been regulars since they opened. we are so happy they found a great space, but so sad they are moving further away. but we'll follow them anywhere, so myrtle north, here we come.
  • Subject: Weird Pricing

Does anyone else find it odd that it cost $2.17 for a large coffee at Pillow Cafe? $2 on the board plus 17¢ in taxes.

What not just buld the taxes into the cost of the coffee? That's what most places do.

Cafe Martino's coffee is just as good, the people there are just as nice so why should I pay a 42¢ premium to buy a coffee from Pillow?
  • Subject: weird Pricing

pillow is a good biz for the community...stop your whining. if you don't like the price of the coffee and you prefer Martino, which is equally as great, then just go to Martino....2.17 is fine with me and i think those girls are doing a fine job.

Relax, angel. Nobody send they weren't good for the community and nobody said the girls weren't doing a fine job.

Stop being so sensitive. It was an observational comment on the price. I try to spread my love amongst all the coffee shops in the nabe, including Pillow since they have great hot chocolate and they're open later.
