  • I love the Fulton St. idea! Something to break up the repetition of dollar stores and bodegas (and yes, I frequent those too). I'm looking forward to the B&N in Clinton Hill, if that's still happening.
  • B&N in Clinton Hill?Where? When? I haven't heard that? i'd prefer soemthing small and quaint and local, from someone like booknerd, but I'm curious...
  • I'm all for Fulton between Grand and Classon!!
  • Have y'all been to Adam's Books over in Prospect Heights? I think it's on Bergen & Flatbush.
  • Any update on the book store idea... i live on clermont and i was hopping that that B&N was real... hopefully i love to read and i dont know of many book stores around here i just moved to the area a few months ago...

Even if the B&N is happening, it won't be for a while. The rumored site is still a big hole in the ground. For the moment, you'll have to hop on the B38 and cruise down to Court St. (B&N @ corner of Schermerhorn and a couple of independents a few blocks past Atlantic Ave.)
  • sorry i dont know my way around here much so i have no clue where any of that is.. sometime hopefully i make my way into brooklyn hights and get a card from the library there i guess i was just hoping for something closer i could walk to in the cold

There's much more book-wise in Park Slope. Check the bus... www.hopstop.com

For used that one on Bergen near Flatbush referenced upthread, and there's two more on Seventh Ave between 2nd and 3rd St.
Community Books is a literary new bookstore, on Seventh Ave (Carroll and Garfield) B&N further up Seventh Ave at . . . is it 7th St? Bleech, hate them since they killed off two other bookstores on that strip.

www.smalltownbrooklyn.com has scrolling maps with all the biz listed...Park Slope
  • Also there are 2 smaller independent bookstores in the neighborhood you might want to check out, one is on South Oxford between Fulton and Lafayette and the other is on Lafayette across from BAM.
  • The woman who started this thread just got some help from the library...

    from yesterday's Daily News
Plan for independent store nets prize

    :D

    Congratulations booknerdnyc!
  • suggestions:

    (not sure about rent....)

    dekalb kindof close to BAM

    Myrtle!!!!! (pleaseeeeeeeee)

for cheap-ish rent and an up-coming-ish area:

washington, between park and flushing.....only problem is that is not that close to the subway and there is not that much foot traffic....there is some cool (and not soooo cool stuff there....ie re pop, castros, reign, the pink elephant project gallery, etc.....) i would imagine that the rent there is relatively reasonable....for now....
