the S train
i have never heard the S train from where i live and but for the last week or so i have been continually aware of it
has anyone else noticed an increase in noise?
(at first i thought it might be that there were no leaves on the trees, but it doesn't seem as if it is every train, which leads me to wonder if they have started using a noisier model)

Subject: S-Train
Neene,
we are experiencing the same thing. We are located on Eastern Parkway between Franklin and Bedford. Never heard the S-Train before, but since a couple of days the noise is disturbing. Maybe they are doing some track work. Does anyone know more about it? -
I'm sure that they lack of leaves is a contributing factor... as far as noisier models... well, only two trains are used on that track. I haven't ridden the S in a while, but they were always the same two.

I'm on Park Pl near the S station, and I've also thought recently that at times the noise is much, much louder. I'm so use to the sound that I usually only notice a train pulling in or out of the station maybe once a night. I've been in my apartment for a few years now. Lack of leaves hasn't seemed to make an impact on the trains being noticeably louder this time of year.
Last night I assumed that I was hearing one of the trains used to transport/pick up trash, but I didn't go to the window to look. -
my girlfriend and i had a discussion about this earlier this morning.
we live on the corner of park and franklin, and we have both noticed that the trains have been MUCH MUCH louder the last week or so.
so much louder that it is disturbing my sleep. -
i am going to research who to contact about this...
& anyone else who is bothered by it, please leave a post here -
DEo you really think the MTA gives a shit? There are mad loud el trains all over the place, why would they give a shit about a loud S train?
-
I think that the MTA is a public authority that our tax dollars pay for so if we give a shit, they will be forced to deal with it.
Considering that the complaint is not that the train is loud, but that the trains are LOUDER than normal, I think its at least worth asking the question.
Assuming that folks will give you a middle finger if you ask a question pretty much will guarantee nothing in life will change for you. -

honestly, i really don't know what the mta gives a shit about,
i wasn't planning on contacting them
and i suppose one could argue that now that the elections are over our local politicians don't give a shit either,
but i prefer not to take such a cynical view of things
btw i think your attitude sucks big time -
it seems as if the MTA does care
or at least is gracious enough to pretend that they do
I got a letter yesterday and a phone call this morning about my complaint
i am curious if anyone else is still bothered
of course i have gotten "used" to it a bit
but it still bothers me
and if it can get returned to its former state,
i, for one, would prefer it
so
if you are bothered could you please call: 718-330-3322
and make a complaint
also can you leave a message here or pm me
if i have time to get there,
i am going to try to bring it up at the the CB8 transportation committee meeting next tuesday,
so it would be very helpful to know how many other people are concerned about this -

LeeHo hasn't even posted in over a week, so I'm not quite sure why this is being said now. However, as always, if you have a specific problem with a user, it's better to PM a mod or an admin with your concerns. -
troll mayhaps or just mean spirted or both
. -
Perhaps mean spirited is a better description...
-
One of the train(s) probably has a flat spot on a wheel(s).
