Anyone know of any area beginner lessons for photography?
We rec'd a nice digital camera as a gift, and are struggling with how to use it best.

any ideas?

    Is it an SLR or a "point and shoot"?

    If it's an SLR, you could pick up any number of books that will teach you the basics (and then some) of photography. I'd recommend "Photographic Materials and Processes" if you're seriously interested in learning.

    If it's a point and shoot, it's probably best to save your money and keep it in "Auto" mode.

    Class Two: THE FIELDTRIP run around taking lots and lots of pictures
    Class Three: evaluate, repeat

    The International Center for Photography (ICP) in midtown has good classes and great shows, don't know about super beginner stuff, which I think you could do on your own at first (see above)
