Bunch of freaking chickens.... they should call this board daily chicken.
AND, to CrazyAngryGuest who says this is a chicken board - arent the real chickens the one that post under the concealment of an anonymous guest?
-
Ok, all the animals....back in the barn!
-
I was under the impression you only regulated rodents...
-
How can they open on the 21st if they are tearing it apart?? This morning they were taking down the awning....

Let's not get the drunken guest riled up again.
I walked past last night around 8:45 and it was dark inside.
It's a mystery. -

....and this afternoon they put a new one up! just went by -- they were power-washing the sidewalks and outdoor patio area out front, and a new yellow awning announcing "Brooklyn Burger Bar" is up.
i guess what i saw the other night was either the old guard saying goodbye to the place, or the new folks saying hello. must have been a private affair.
cluck-cluck. -

Oh, C'mon...I like getting the drunks riled up!"Brooklyn Burger Bar"
Gross!!! Perhaps you guys are excited about this, but as a vegetarian, I'm appalled. I take interest in this location because it is merely about 6 doors away from my stoop. I see the place daily. It is a gorgeous space....I have to say I'm sad to see another meat joint. -
yeah, I'm dissapointed as well. Even as a carnivore, I dont like burgers or ground beef very much.
plus they picked the lamest name. "BBB" sounds more interesting than the actual name they picked. -

The nice people at Hunan Delight on the corner of Union street and 6th Avenue let me order off the menu. Everything I've ordered -- with the exception being a scallion pancake that was too greasy for me -- has always been fresh. -
I was just on menupages.com and saw that both Bar Minnow and Night and Day restuarants were closed. When and why did Night and Day close?

When it became Biscuit.
Seriously, never saw anyone eating there. I wasn't all that surprized. -
Brooklyn Burger Bar was open for lunch today, I walked by and saw a few people inside. There's also a story in the brooklyn papers this week:

It better be worth it or else....the wrath of the park slope msg boards.... -
Gotta have the kobe this weekend.

So, we went to the BBB over the weekend. The food was quite good (although the french fries were a little undercooked, and their version of grilled cheese is at variance with the norm), but there were major issues with the service. Our server was nice enough, but she got 5 different things wrong during a one course meal for three people. If you're going to give the place a try, don't be afraid to repeat yourself and talk slowly while giving your order.

Subject: Brooklyn Burger Bar
We just came from BBB and it was the WORST meal I've had in a while. The service was awful-- our waitress was sweet, but managed to screw up not only *our* meals, but the meals at the next table. And when she "fixed" it, a "computer glitch happened" and our orders didn't get sent to the kitchen, so we (2 separate parties!) waited for an additional half an hour. And when she brought them, she forgot to bring napkins and silverware, so we had to chase her down before we could even start eating. On top of that, the burger was acceptable at best. Not awful, but combined with the half-assed service, I'll be hiking back to Bonnie's Grill next time I need my burger fix. -
with Bonnie's in closer walking distance, I can't be bothered to go to BBB.
two fun facts
1. according to that Brooklyn Papers article, it's owned by Greg's/Mr. Rubbish (a fine carting and dumpster service)
2. BBB appears to be shilling like mad on Chowhound. meh.
I did notice that Bonnie's has a Kobe burger on the specials this week, as they do periodically. My lady friend tried it once, and I don't think "burger" is the intended ultimate expression of the beer-fed massaged cow. -
Subject: can't blame a new restaurant?
I don't think the newness of a restaurant is a way to excuse an overall poor experience. If it was JUST the slow and shabby service at Brooklyn Burger Bar OR the mediocre food, perhaps but BOTH? When nono kitchen first opened, they seemed a bit scattered but the food was good and it was obvious the kinks were being worked out.
BBB is uninspiring and the burgers at Johnny Mack's are MUCH better.
It's such a central location, I'm disappointed in what the owners came up with here.... -

me, too! good fries as well. yum =P~ -
I never go into Johnny Mack's. I think I imagine it as a frat-boy type of crowd (no offense to frat-boys, blah blah blah...). If I'm over there, I head over to 12th Street instead. Maybe I'll give it a shot one day.
I noticed that the Minnow (restaurant, not the Bar Minnow) sign is still there. Are they still operating? -

Ya but how was the service? -
12th street, best burger in the slope.
-
Went to Brooklyn Burger Bar yesterday and I was not impressed. I looks the same as Bar Minnow, so that wasn't exciting, the burgers were mediocre, the fries sucked, the service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes for our burgers right next to the door that was opening and closing every minute. I won't be going back.

Sounds like we got lucky with the food, then. It wasn't Chanterelle or anything but it was good enough that it seemed like they would be able to build around it until they got the other issues squared. I guess we'll see what happens. -

Really? Wow. Better than Bonnie's? 'Cause I'm going to take you up on that by bringing with me a married couple that are Bonnie's loyalists. Hell, I've joked that if Bonnie's were smack he'd be pimping her out on the corner. And if it were another man she'd have left my boy by now. To which they laugh and then quietly agree.
Howdy, Stranger!
