Giving back to the Community (RRE related)
Hey folks- I’m happy to tell you that we have been able to set up food and clothing donation drives at each of our 4 year end shows. Since we’re only a few weeks away, please help spread the word to anyone and everyone you know who is coming (or thinking about coming) to one of the shows listed below, and help us make this run a success for all the communities we’ll be visiting! Please note that each donation site has different needs, listed below.
Here’s a snippet from our official press release:
In the spirit of the season, Railroad Earth will be holding a food drive at each show this run. In exchange for a donation of at least one nonperishable food item, participants will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a commemorative New Year’s Eve poster autographed by the band and signed by artist Nadina Simon. Donations will go to benefit local charities in each city.

In addition to Railroad Earth’s poster raffle, anyone who brings DONATED FOOD ITEMS, “GENTLY USED†CLEAN CLOTHING, or A $5 DONATION will be entered into a drawing to win free admission to every 9:30 Club show in 2007. Donations benefit Bread For The City, Bethany Women’s Center (affiliated w/ Luther Place Night Shelter), House of Ruth, and Washington Free Clinic.

The Food Bank For New York City, a member of America's Second Harvest, The Nation's Food Bank Network, was founded in 1983 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the city's hungry. We provide over 67 million pounds of food annually to more than 1,200 nonprofit community food programs - including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, low-income day care centers, Kids Cafes, and senior, youth and rehabilitation centers - throughout the five boroughs of New York City.

*HOUSEHOLD ITEMS (paper goods: plates, cups, plastic utensils, laundry detergent, dish soap, cleansers, garbage bags, some canned food) will be donated to Pocono Area Transitional Housing:
The purpose of PATH is to organize and operate housing with related services for the care and relief of families with children in a housing crisis in Monroe County. Accommodations are available for up to twenty persons, depending on the size of individual families.

Philabundance works to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by rescuing surplus food and distributing it to local organizations serving people in need. Last year, Philabundance provided approximately 22 million pounds of food to our member agencies.

Hey that's excellent!
The PSFC is doing a WINTER clothing drive through January (non-members can drop off clothes too)
Clothes should be clean and functional (don't unload stuff with big holes and broken zippers) Men's clothes are going to CHIPS and women's/kid's to a local shelter.
