Manhattanite refugee moving to the slope — Brooklynian

Manhattanite refugee moving to the slope

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Manhattan rent is finally kicking my ass too hard, so I'm moving to Brooklyn in the near future, to an apartment near the cemetery south of prospect parkway.

Anyone use a particular dry cleaner/laundry place nearby that they like? Do any of these places do pickup and delivery?

Has anyone used freshdirect.com or another grocery delivery service? Any feedback on that?

Thanks for all the great info on this board, especially the thread about local bars. I can see that BBQ is going to be my "stumble home" bar.

  • There has been ample discussion of laundry places and some on fresh direct too. Search those terms and the appopriate threads should turn up/
  • I've started using the cleaners on 5th ave between 20th and 21st and I've been very happy. They also do a good job with alterations and fixes on buttons and seams.

I tried a couple other cleaners in the neighborhood and had many problems. Do not use the place on 4th ave at 23rd - even though they are convenient on the way to the subway - I finally got sick of broken buttons every time I took shirts in and employees that couldn't have cared less about it.

I use Fresh Direct occasionally and they're great. Maybe it's the location, but they tend to show up within the first 20 minutes of the time frame, so no waiting around for 2 hours.
