need a granny cart — Brooklynian

need a granny cart

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Anybody know of a place in the Slope (preferably the South Slope) where I can buy one of those rolling granny carts for carrying groceries? I'm new to the area, and I need to go the Fedex depot on 20th St. to pick up some large boxes they tried to deliver when I wasn't home. I need some sort of cart to haul the boxes back to my apartment.

  • Maybe Target, a 99cent store, Loews, or a hardware store might have them?
  • I think the vacuum/sewing machine place on 7th between 11th & 12th Streets has them (next to the pet supply place)
  • 5th avenue (south side) has all the dollar stores one could ever hope for, and ive seen tons of those granny carts in them...
  • it's not south slope, but the hardware store on flatbush at the corner of st. marks has them.

also, for large boxes, you might consider getting a folding hand truck. more expensive, but we've gotten a ton of use out of ours.

  • Hardware store between Prospect and 16th on Fifth Avenue has a selection, and is a nice hardware store besides.
  • I believe Pintchik carries them.
  • I got mine at Pintchik...had it for about 15 months now.
  • Wah. After two years my trusty cart died. I bought it at my fave 99c store Non Stop Shopping and they are now closed as are my two other favorite 99c stores on south 5th. The only ones left are tiny, narrow, dirty and some make you check your bags before shopping.

DOES Lowe's have them? I feel lucky to have made it back to 7th ave from Pathmark today, but had I knowd it was going to peter out, I would have just gone into Lowe's for a new one.

    Budget is like $20-30.

    Thanks

  • Pretty sure Lowe's has them--straight back from the entrance with the closet stuff is where they usually are, not that I've been to Lowes much lately :) Save On probably has some options, as well.

  • I know they have them at the Key Food on 7th Ave so try any supermarket.

  • Is this really a three-year-old thread with only the last three posts, and this one, entered during the Obama Administration?

  • Key Foods on 5th ave also sells them (ask a manager, because they stock them super high on the top of shelves, so you never see them)

Almost all super markets sell them, just ask (

  • Is Non stop the one on 19th?

  • karl made his own

from a box and an old skateboard

    and lots

    and lots

    of duct tape

  • Yeah, non stop was on 19th or 20th. Awesomely huge. Sadly gone.

  • Sometimes I buy to much stuff so I get a granny cart just to get the stuff home.

  • Thanks Ralph Wiggum Laughing

  • I got mine for $30 and only used it once. I'll be happy to sell it to you (obviously for less than that), if you are interested.
