  • How small? There's always cafepress.com...you can do a single shirt there, or as many as you want. Not the cheapest thing in the world, but it's an option...
  • You should check our Red Lipstick on Vanderbilt.

I use CafePress for some shirts I've made (see profile). It works great. Of course, you won't make much of a profit.
  • Some friends recently started a company doing screenprint and design. The name is Pigeon Extraordinary and the website is www.pigeonex.com. I am pretty sure they give a 10% discount to 1st time customers who live in Brooklyn. They did some shirts for Habana Outpost, brownstoner-check out their website.
  • Thanks, Stace, but I don't take custom orders. Thanks for the pigeonex.com info, MM. :P
  • Where can I get a dailyheights.com T-Shirt?

I would be willing to design them and perhaps if there are any profits, they could go to something community oriented and worthwhile? Hey, I'm just a MOD... :)
  • If people would actually wear them, I would make them and hand them out for free. Er... at cost.

Or we could spend a year selling them through cafepress, reap $16.03 in profits, and then proudly present a check to the homeless shelter of our choice.

There's also this t-shirt, that sje hand embroidered for us, and we gave away at the Daily Heights raffle at Soda Bar this past spring:

I would wear one! Especially if it had lots of "idea" emoticons on it!

  • Here are a few ideas from a few months ago. The first one was an attempt to imitate the FedEx logo. The second and third are just playing with fonts. By the way, "Chick" is an actual font name.

To revise my statement...by community oriented I mean like a bottle of booze at the next DH thing or a flamethrower or something.

are you trying to start a proho chapter of http://www.srl.org/??
  • I would also be honored to design something for a shirt....especially if booze is involved.

That would be awesome. We have a robot here at my office that roams the hallways. Big plastic dinosaur. Some $$$ hi-tech toy for next year that we got for review in one of the mags. We turned iton and it's been doing it's own thing for about two weeks now. Still, it doesn't flay dead animals and shoot flames. :(

does it at least play industrial music at ear-splitting volume? more organic robots, please, especially if they like noise-industrial and are pals with mark pauline. proho needs the not-so-hipster coolness factor. and it would be funny to watch a helicopter blow up on vanderbilt.

Oooh. Let's have a contest. Or at least a show and tell. People who have design talent can submit their images and we can either vote one them and pick one or have cafe press make lots of different ones.

I would totally buy a nicely designed shirt with a meat haiku on it.

As soon as I get to my home computer (I'm traveling for work), I'm on it....like stink on sh!t....like brown on a UPS man....

Okay, I know this is a dumb question, but how do I post a photo? I mean, I know you have to link to a publicly-accessible web site, but...how do I find one? Any suggestions for a particular one I should use?

Rhodamine explained it really well in this thread:

I just want to point out one thing. Nearly all the images people post here are hotlinked, as in you're going to someone else's site, and linking the location of the image to appear in your post. What's basically being done is bandwidth is being stolen from that originating site to serve the image up elsewhere, in a place I'm sure the owner of the image does not want nor ever intended.

Bandwidth usage is a problem this site faces now, so while hotlinking most times is a small annoyance, with large and popular image based sites, it can be a problem.

The other issue is copyright. Andy pays for and maintains this site. By virtue of this, he also accepts legal culpability for anything that should occur. I know, you're like...whatever, but you'd be surprised how it can come down because there's some Warner Bros. cartoon character image that someone is using as an icon (that's not a real example, of course). On the other end of the stick, personally speaking, my website was originally a lot of flash animation and photoshop work. One day I discovered that i could check my usage stats and found that many sites, mostly free livejournal accounts were hotlinking my flash movies and images. It made me extremely angry that someone would do that, but you know, it is the how things are on the net. But still, it's never okay.

Now, as far as what to do, there's sites like flickr.com and other free image hosting services that fully expect and encourage hotlinking. Of course, you can't take images owned or copywritten by others and host them as if they were your own, but it's a really good service.
