New to PS. Need advice
Hey.. I just moved here this week from Atlanta, GA. I don't know many people in the city just yet, but its Friday and I need something to do. I'm staying on Union @5th and wondered where are some good places to have a drink and be social. I'm a pretty low-key guy and don't care for the overly loud sports bars, but a nice lounge or neighborhood bar would be cool.
Also... whre's a good spot w/ free wireless that serves beer/coffee?
Thanks!
jason

Well, when I first moved to PS I wandered into the Black Sheep Pub, off 5th (can't remember the side street??)
The place was cozy, and the bartender was so nice to me. She was friendly and funny. They had great drink specials, and though I haven't been to any of them yet, they have movie/game/trivia nights.
Otherwise I also like Cherry Tree on 4th ave (near Dean?). Again, really friendly/funny bartenders, good happy hours.. etc.. Plus now they serve brick oven pizza and it's freekin delicious. I was shocked that they would have such a great crust.
You should do a search on "Bars" here, there were many discussion on them recently.
For coffee, Gorilla is the very best. But it does get crowded. I could go on... but I'm at work  -
Thanks! (this is jason by the way). I'll check those out for sure.
Still on a hunt for some good free WiFi. Any help? -
well, you're right next to Union Hall - union btwn 5th and 6th which is definitely worth popping into.
-
also another block up is the Tea Lounge on Union(right before 7th ave). I think they have wifi. but its a nice place to chill if it doesnt get too crowded

I would second Gorilla Coffee and Tea Lounge -- Gorilla Coffee (5th Ave, forget cross street) is fine to sit during the day - there's always a spot when i've gone there. also tea lounge on union street between 6th and 7th although it can get a bit overrun with moms, nannies and young children during the day. Both have free WiFi. Tea lounge even has happy hour from 5-7 with $2 beer!

Thanks.. just got back from Gorilla. GOOD coffee. Didn't have my mac w/ me, but will be sure to go back!

Jason, et al, the best place to meet people is the Food Co-op. Even when you are working on a shift, it's a great place to socialize!
