Awesome. Now I know where my kids will be going if I ever have them and we're still living here.

yeah, unfortunately it costs b/t $15k - $20k per year to send your child there, according to their website. who can afford this in our neighborhood?
-
wow! that is a lot.
I went to a montessori school when I was a kid in milwaukee - but it was a public magnet school so it was free. thinking back, I realize I somehow managed to go to montessori schools up through 5th grade. even in costa rica and mexico. crazy. -

People who can pay the going price of 1.5M for a brownstone in our neighborhood with a 300K deposit and 90K/year repayments could probably afford that.
I was also very lucky: some Americans came to my birthcountry when I was a kid and happened to open the first school the year I started, right nearby where we lived; my mother had never heard of Montessori but found out about it by accident by overhearing a conversation in the local library. -
I went to a Montessori school but it was in a synagogue, I think.
where is 787 Washington, anyway? -

not that I am in favor of $$$ preschool, but to be fair, the $20,000 price tag is for the *50* hour a week, 12 month "plan" - that's 2600 hours of preschool, at ~$7.60 an hour (if you don't include the few weeks of holidays - whatever - it's still under $8/hour). all things being equal, that's certainly a reasonable price for full time childcare, which is what it essentially boils down to, at that number of hours..

You're probably right about it being a reasonable price, given how expensive child care is in this country and the fact that Montessori pre-schools are thought to be excellent. I wish there were more pre-school options near by though - at affordable rates.
